Advantages: In a low insurance group and has proven reliable. Spacious.

Disadvantages: Petrol. Diesel would have been more preferable getting more to the gallon.

After passing his driving test my partner was given a red R Reg Vauxhall Corsa with a 1.2 litre engine. It had 70 000 thousand miles on the clock and had been hardly used by the previous owners. Over the past year we have travelled over 20 000 miles and had very few problems with the car.

When getting the car through the MOT the first year of having the car we spent £200 quid on a new exhaust and £25 on a tire as the tread had worn. Apart from this the car seems to be holding up and passed another MOT recently.

This car is perfect for a newer drivers and is not as expensive as other cars to insure. It's got plenty of leg room in both the front and back of the car and seems to be pretty reliable. It was simple enough to change the cassette player to a more modern CD player as well.

With a bit of TLC and some new accessories this car has been perfect for us these last few years. The glove box has two cup holders which come in handy on out travels and the boot is a bonus as well as it has plenty of room. In a way the car being fairly small is deceptive as it is very spacious on the inside.

This car has taken us all over the UK without the need to call the RAC.

Top car for a first time buyer.
