Great economical basic car (Vauxhall Corsa (pre 2000))

I own the 1999 version, a 16V V registration. This car has not been a bad runner at all. It is nippy and is small enough to swing into the small parking places. I have owned it for three years now and have not had to have any majoy jobs done to it. Which is very good because in the past my luck with cars has been quite awful. Although it is not my first car i do think that they do make good 1st cars. The ars are very good on petrol. I am quite attached to my little corsa. Although I would love to have one of the new versions.

Things that are not so good about it- like all cars they have their bad points. On the 16 valve the valves are prone to "sticking" which can cause the car to "pull back" on accellerating. This has happened to me on a few occassions but has only happened when i have been on long journeys.

The exhaust support in the middle of the car is not too good so there is chance of a knocking exhaust. Also corsas are known for the gear linkages going quite often and having to be changed, this is not an expensive job and in the 3 years i have had my car i have only had to change them once.

As for comfort, inside it is a bog standard car. so comfort is minimal. Saying this i have never felt uncomfortable.

For a basic good economical car it is worth it.
