Advantages: Cheap, reliable

This is a car that I did quite a lot of my learning to drive in and still drive occasionally now. Yes that’s right – it’s my mothers. The car’s been pretty reliable, only having a couple of minor drama’s over the 5 or so years we’ve had the car. It’s also pretty good to drive, though the lack of power steering can make parking a bit more work than it needs to be. The gearbox is also a bit vague, there’s not a huge difference (In terms of the stick position) between 1st and 3rd as well as 2nd and 4th. There’s also a lot of play on the break pedal before anything happens, but it does allow you to brake test any HGV’s that are tailgating you! It’s been a good car, but the design is starting to age somewhat now, but don’t cross the Corsa from your list as it’s pretty good value.
