Advantages: cheap to maintain, fun, hold their value

Disadvantages: thieves paradise, rust on the arches, hard to come by

I've had my Nova 1.3SR for 2 years now, and what a car it is! Easy to run, cheap to insure, and it wont cost you the earth to fill it with petrol. The boxy, square jaw looks give it a presence on the road - an increasingly rare sight on our roads today. Dont expect dazzling performance, but be prepared for a surprise. The 1300cc engine will take you over the 100mph mark, and the accelaration is good enough to get you out of most sticky situations.

At a first glance, the interior is "plasticy" and simple, with a functional interior. But live with the car for a while, and it seems to offer more than it should be capable of.

Vauxhall gave this car one of the best gear boxes in the world, affordable, easy to come by spares, and a simple engine to work on. It's a great town car - parking is easy, and it will get you from A to B with few worries if the journey is of any distance. This is thanks to a great 5th gear. Good feedback from the road is a plus, but many may think that the hard suspension set-up is a minus. I dis-agree, as its good to know what your car is doing! In the wet, the drive is "intersting". Dont be too adventurous until you know the car.

They are a thieves paradise, so get an alarm and immobiliser pronto. Be aware of rust on the arches, and the dreaded blue smoke. Pay a little more for a fine example - the SR is becoming rarer by the day. These cars retain their values well, and are a cut above the rival Fiesta. I've had very few problems with my car - a split hose, and the odd bulb failing, but this is quite normal on Novas.

Dont pre-judge this car before you take a closer look - the first time car buyer will be impressed, and the "poodle around town" type driver will like it too. It has a reputation as being a lads car, but thats because it has a wealth of upgrade options available. This car is easy to modify, and very easy to work on. The Nova comes with my highest recom
mendation!

I'm surprised that this opinion had not been read prior to my reading it. It is a very good first effort. Don't be discouraged. Write some more and keep updating your opinions.
