Advantages: Cheap but fun

Disadvantages: old in the tooth now

I have had two experiences with Novas and both have been great, my first a 500 pound 1.2L, great cheap fun car, ideal for beginners, my next a 1,3SR even more fun and still cheap. Look out for rust on older models espeically round the rear arches, and bottom of doors on 3 door versions. The sporty models such as the SR and GTE are now rare for good examples as they tend to be modified. Overall though you cannot beat it for price and reliabilty. Vauxhall Quality yet again !

Good to have this info, but can I suggest that you update your opinion with this and more info ?

A little more info on the two Nova I had, Number one, the 1.2L, This was bought for £500 a 1.2L white A plate with orange/red interior, wonderful motor, nippy, cheap economical and whats better the only maintenance money spent on it was tyres, cant go wrong !! with only 78000 miles on it it drove like a dream, smooth but a little spongey due to the model not being sport tuned, absolutley perfect for a new driver, and also cheap to mod for the new driver who has read too many maxpowers !!

The 1.3SR I paid £1700 for this a year ago, this again was white but newer an F plate with 80,000 miles, this was a great car for the first 6 months, fast, cheap (unless you put your foot down a little) but then the clutch went and blew the thrust bearing at the same time...this cost £120 to get done, cheap repair (if there is such a thing!!) Then the exhaust again around the £100 mark for a complete system, so another cheap repair, which is the main thing about any Nova all spares are cheap and easy to get hold of ! The only reason I sold this one was I found that it was a write off, which is where anyone considering a sports Nova should get it fully checked as they are ideal for Boy racers and modifiers, beware !

Agree with all you say. How about expanding your opinion a little ? Share your experiences, tell us more about your 1.2 and 1.3SR. What years' and what colours even ? What problems did you have and how were they sorted. Love to read about these things and give reactions - beats working (Now back to writing that Report !).
