My View of the Vauxhall Nova (Vauxhall Nova)

Advantages: Cheap personality and style Disadvantages: Others may not agree!
Being a fresh faced 17 year old who had just passed his driving test, I was on the lookout for a cheep and cheerful car. I knew I didn't want 'just another fiesta', but I did want something with a bit of street cred, for (well!) under a grand. Impossible! I hear you cry, but no; the Vauxhall Nova easily satisfies these conditions. I picked up a 1.0 litre Nova for just under £500, and it has served me very well for the last year and a half. It has a low insurance rating, which is vital for a 17 year old male - especially considering that my insurance for a year, cost alsmost twice the value of the car! Even though my Nova is 15 years old, it has had very little wrong with it mechanically. Apart from the obvious rust, which required a little welding to get it through the MOT, it has successfully taken me on several long motorway journeys, and apart from a slight lack of acceleration up hills, it was well able to keep up with the other traffic. Whats more Novas are associated with the 'boy racer' element, which means, even if you own a low powered one like me, you can still attain the sought-after label of 'Nova Driver', which immidiatly gives you some kudos in the school car park. The Nova may be a little noisy, and may have a little rust here and there, but in my opinion it has what so many other cars are lacking; personality. Personality for under 500 pounds! - Its possible with the Vauxhall Nova. Summary: |
