I've had my Nova 1.3SR for 2 years now, and what a car it is! Easy to run, cheap to insure, and it wont cost you the earth to fill it with petrol. The boxy, square jaw looks give it a presence on the road - an increasingly rare sight on our roads today. Dont expect dazzling performance, but be prepared for a surprise. The 1300cc engine will ... We all remember our first car, perhaps you even gave it a name! Mine was a B Reg Vauxhall Nova 1.0L called ?Percy?, he was white with a strangely orange interior. I rescued him from a shady garage which had repaired him after a rather dubious accident, I had him inspected and he passed with flying colours, then all that was left ... Read the complete review

This is now the tale of three Novas. Nova 1: Our student son, when 18 years' old, bought a Nova 1.2 Merit 3-door hatchback in December 1999 from a neighbour for £100, including a full tank of petrol (don't laugh - that was worth over £30 even then !). It needed an MOT and failed on about 20 faults, the major ... Read the complete review

For sheer reliabilty, and performance the Nova 1.2 was in its time hard to beat..And would appear to be the car of choice even today for the young boy/girl racer..Or Kev's as my youngest puts it.. My first Nova , bought in 86' was a black Nova merit.. Bog standard, but a darling to drive..With good acceleration, solid on the road ( ... Read the complete review

The Vauxhall Nova has been out now for around 18 years it has been my ideal car for the past few years since i have been thinking about owning a car. The range goes from the three and five door hatch to the two and four door saloon (not my prefered model) with the option of 1.0, 1.2, 1.3(sr),1.4 (sr) 1.4i (sri) and the 1.6i (GTE, GSI) engines. ... I owned a Nova 1.2 Merit for 7 years, it was my first car and it was really hard to get rid of, why? you might ask. Well a) it never broke down, b) it failed to start only once in seven years (and that was when the nightime temperature went down to -20 centigrade! so I forgave it), c) it was cheap to service and run, d) it was suprising nippy and ... I have to say, I miss the Nova. Yes it looks a little dated now, but it was roomy and quite chic in its time. The Nova was the first car I owned. I bought new in 1989. It was the basic model with a boot. I chose Glacier White as the colour as it looked the most striking. As a first car it was perfect, nippy (I had once seen ... Read the complete review

I have owned my nova for over a year now, and I am still impressed with its lively performance for quite a small engine. It has lasted extremely well, with only the service consumables having to be changed. When I brought it, I was looking for something a bit stylish, aswell as reasonable performance. As I was only 17 at the time, I had to opt ... Read the complete review

Back in 1986, I worked for Vauxhall Motors in Luton in their IT Department. I had a good job and having passed my driving test back in October 1985, decided I want some wheels. So I bought myself a silver Vauxhall Nova 1.3SR. It had alloy wheels and a sunroof and looked the business. It was a light car (compared with my current diesel ... Read the complete review

Being a fresh faced 17 year old who had just passed his driving test, I was on the lookout for a cheep and cheerful car. I knew I didn't want 'just another fiesta', but I did want something with a bit of street cred, for (well!) under a grand. Impossible! I hear you cry, but no; the Vauxhall Nova easily satisfies these conditions. I ... Read the complete review

I have had my nova 1.3SR for 3 years now and I still like it. Novas are great first cars for young drivers, fun to drive and cheap to insure, my SR is only group 5, and it looks the business with spoiler and bucket seats. If you choose to buy one look for rust around the rear arches and the bottom of the doors, and also in the boot (hatch) ... Read the complete review

Ok they are not new cars anymore but i bought a nova last year. I have never been so happy with a car. These cars are quite cheep to get hold of, good runners & they go quite well too. For people who dont have a lot of money & are looking for a second hand car then i would definately recommend. They were good cars in their time ... Read the complete review
