Advantages: Superb specification, smooth and safe, easy to get spares.
Disadvantages: Nothing springs to mind.
Let me start by saying that I have owned my Omega Elite for 5 months now, and unfortunatly I have had a few problems with it. DO NOT let this put you off as I am sure that my car is a one-off!!
Prior to owning this car I had driven Jaguar XJ6's for the last 2 years. Allowing for the fact that my last Jag was 5 years older than my Omega, it was not in the same league. The specifications on the Omega are the best I have seen on a car. The Elite has full electric pack (windows, mirrors, seats etc), heated leather seats, heated wing mirrors, the rear view mirror tints automaticly at night to dim the glare of headlights, there is a sun screen that comes accross the rear window at the touch of a button, 6 cd changer with controls on the steering wheel.....the list is endless. My Omega is a 1999 'T' reg, and all the gadgets are all in perfect working order.
The doors inside are finished off with a soft leather at the top and a nice thick carpet like material at the bottom. Unlike some cars this is continued into the rear of the car as well. The dash has a walnut finish that sets the car off nicely. A clear computer display alerts you of any problems such as low brake fluid etc, and can also be used to calculate you fuel consumption, average speed etc.
The boot of the car if very big. The rear seats also fold down to give extra space for longer items. Bodywork seems solid and is finished off nicely with a boot spoiler!
The car has an automatic gear box which is as smooth as any other car I have driven (including my Jags!). Fuel consumption is good for a car with a 2.5 V6 engine. I get about 32mpg on a run and 27mpg round town.
As previously stated, I have had a few problems in the short time I have owned this car. This may be to do with the fact that it has done 133,000 miles and things are starting to go. Firstly I discovered an oil leak that was coming from the rocker cover. This had to be done by a Vauxhall garage as my local garage said it was a specialist job. Following this the exhaust went, needing back and centre repalcing and now the radiator has gone!! To add to this, I had someone drive into me in a car park whilst I had left the car unattended. They left no details and me with a large repair bill!!!
I am sur that these things are to do with my car only, and I would reccomend the Omega Elite to anyone. Have a test drive and see if I am right!
Summary: A nice drive with top specification. Good value for money.

- 20/07/05 Hi and welcome to dooyoo. I have always believed that, despite the anti vauxhall brigade's comments, when it comes to "top of the range" Vauxhall have always excelled; although the Omega is not IMHO the best they have produced. Do have a read around and enjoy our friendly site. |
