I purcased a 2 year old Omega at a car auction last year. The car had over 90k on the clock but I paid £16,000 less than the previous owner. It came with full Vauxhall dealer service history and had a number of extras including air conditioning, dual airbags, front foglights and alloy wheels. The bodywork is in excellent condition with the exception of a few stone chips on the front end, an obvious but inevitable consequence of cosiderable motorway use. I have done a further 12k since I bought it and have experienced trouble free luxury motoring for an initial minimal capital outlay. My previous car was a Vauxhall Carlton, which had 150k on the ... Omega GLS 2.0 16 valve. Saloon, pre-facelift. Dooyoo have a picture of a facelift estate, which is not a GLS either, no matter. I have done a review on my present car, a W Reg Omega Turbo Diesel, now I will tell you how I decided to buy an Omega in the first place. I fancied the Omega, had done for a while, but there is only one way you are going to be sure you like a car, and that is by owning one. These cars were built at Russelsheim in the Opel factory, and have a very good name for build quality. I saw a bit of a shed on ebay, it was showing it's age, it was an M Reg. Probably an ex Taxi, it had more miles under it's belt than the space ... Read the complete review

My company cars is a 2.0i GLS Vauxhall Omega Automatic which I have had for coming up 2years, so it is not the latest facelifted model. If I was to spend my own money on a large sized saloon I would probably not pick this car as the residual value is not very good and the car depreciates quite fast. Worth considering if you are looking for a second hand executive saloon. The basic equipment includes Electric front windows,CD Player,Air Conditioning. The Omega is pretty comfortable, reasonably economic and overall fairly reliable, although I did have some teething problems in the first 6 months with the engine management which lead to the engine cutting out ... For what should have been a top of the range experience turned out to be three years of grief. I received an M registered auto version from new. The brake linkages failed in the first month, and within 6 months the auto gear box failed on the motorway. It took six weeks for a main dealer to secure a replacement automatic gear box. A variety of other minor problems ensued including sudden loss of coolant. The major bugbear towards the end of its life, and I know this has happened to others, is that the fuel injectors failed twice in a short period. In the auto version this meant unexpected speed surges from the engine at halts, and when the foot was taken off the brake ... It's hard to critise a car where the ride and handling are smooth and suited to its size and image, where the fit and finish is near perfect and the equipment levels are high. In two litre form this is true of the Omega but it fails to impress. The Omega is a nearly car - the faults are small but exist. Firstly a two litre engine is only just sufficent in todays market for this class of car, combine air conditioning and automatic transmission with a heavy body and the promise of performance soon vanishes. The equipment looks good on first inspection but it doesn't take long to find the missing bits of kit - for example the CD is single disc only and the ... Read the complete review
