Advantages: Luxury motoring at the right price

Disadvantages: Ownership from new

I purcased a 2 year old Omega at a car auction last year. The car had over 90k on the clock but I paid £16,000 less than the previous owner.
It came with full Vauxhall dealer service history and had a number of extras including air conditioning, dual airbags, front foglights and alloy wheels.
The bodywork is in excellent condition with the exception of a few stone chips on the front end, an obvious but inevitable consequence of cosiderable motorway use.
I have done a further 12k since I bought it and have experienced trouble free luxury motoring for an initial minimal capital outlay.
My previous car was a Vauxhall Carlton, which had 150k on the clock when I parted with it (at a reasonable price) and I bought that very cheaply at an auction with 70k on the clock.
I would not argue that the disadvantage of these excellent cars is their value depreciation from new, but for every disadvantage there has to be an advantage, and that comes to the second hand buyer.
Provided you can secure a vehicle at the right price, with service history, sound bodywork and good upholstery, they will go on for ever - a fantastic secondhand bargain.
