Advantages: Speed, Comfort, Spec

Disadvantages: Expensive New, Plastics on Mk1 cars

As my '99S Omega MV6 has just 4 years old I felt it should get a bit of feedback. I bought it 2 years ago for £9000 with 29,000 miles and it has been nothing but fantastic. Actually I do have one quibble so I will say it now, it does drink a lot but only when it is pushed hard at high speed, when cruising at any speed it is very frugal.

ENGINE
Talking of high speed, I have been told, that it can do 150 mph and I would believe it, if you put your foot down at 90 it still manages to push you back in your seat.

DRIVING
But going at silly speeds is not its best point as although it weighs a lot it is still very fun round the bends, especially with the traction control off, it feels very steady for its size and doesn't wallow at all but, unlike some, it is still supremely comfortable and smooth. The speed sensitive power steering add much needed weight at speed yet when parking it could not be lighter.

STYLING
The standard models styling does leave something to be desired but 1 reason I chose my specific car was because it has a, Vauxhall, bodykit with a lovely front grille and airdam with spot lights and a standard fit ultra discreet rear spoiler. And the 17" alloy wheels, well, lets just say that the Mk1 MV6 alloys are probably the nicest standard fit alloys ever.

INTERIOR
Inside it isn't all good, by todays standards the plastics are not very nice but the seats are supportive, and the spec is immense: Climate control, built in car phone, 6 disc cd, 4 airbags, xenon headlights which are 100 times better than halogen.

SERVICING
Apart from standard servicing the only repair it has needed was when someone decided to back up into it when it was parked, it wouldn't have been that bad but the xenon bulb was broken which cost £400 alone, good thing I didn't have to pay.

OVERALL
This car is one of the best cars to buy second hand as it has such a high depreciation, a ba
rgain of the century. I advise it to anyone.

the omega is a seriously underrated car, it may not be a Mercedes-Benz, but's very close, if not better, than a BMW. The only complaint I have about the Omega, is that the insides does feel somewhat " cheap ", but compared to the original design, this is a real winner, and I'am hoping Vauxhall don't dump the Omega for the current Vectra, or replace the car altogether, as it has proven it has'nt gone the same way as the Scorpio. Omega should stay as Vauxhall's flagship.
