Due to lack of funds I purchased a N reg Vectra 1.8 LS (about the oldest you can get) in Late Jan 2000. It had 86000 miles on the clock, now has 92000. It has been nothing but trouble with various parts failing. Although some are covered by warantee, I have to take the car in - make my way back to work (by bus 30 mins + 40 mins walking or taxi) - drop back to collect (same journey times). Others come out of my pocket (around £500 so far). Next time I am going to find the money somewhere and get the one I want.
