I have owned a corrado for a few years now and absolutley love the machine. I don't drive it at all these days but it still adorns a spot on my driveaway and without a doubt will never sell the old girl.
These cars are guaranteed to be future classics. In mine, and many others, opinion it is the best Front Wheel Drive Coupe ever built.
The model I have is the 2.9L VR6 and is the daddy of them all. Some may argue that the G60 supercharged is better but one drive in a VR6 will prove you wrong.
The ride is amazing and goes round corners at speeds other cars can only dream of. There is very little body roll also.
The mpg leaves alot to be desired at less than 30mpg on a good day!
But this car was meant to be driven at speed around corners and not to worry about mpg. It for me is a toy to be worked on at weekends, and driven on special occasions. It is a guilty pleasure that few people understand unless you have one.
Now we all know that VW have come a long way since the days of the corrado and churn out quality cars year after year. But in my opinion none since have the same appeal and character as the Corrado.
VW classic camper vans have become an institution for enthusiasts and I expect Corrado's to go the same way in time.
They are not perfect by any means some of the built quality on the interior is laughable and the main parts will require upgrade at some point due to the immense power and torque the 2.9L engine has. But these things can be overlooked (along with the cost of these fixes) by the passion of owning one and hearing the beast in full flow.
