VW Golf Mk I (1978-84)

The Volkswagen Gold mk1 gti. Surely the finest example of a hot hatch to have graced the earth. At the moment i am seriously considering buying one of these firey little devils. They pack quite a punch and you can expect a good example to get from 0-60 in around seven seconds. Considering the age of these cars that is incredibly quick. The vw golf gti mk1 is the definitve hot hatch. Car enthusiasts everwhere always refer to the mk1 gti as the best. It's light weight shell makes for great handling and great speeds. So, this then, is the first opinion on here with regards to the first and finest hot hatch ever. If you were to drive one of these today you would be amazed by its performance, handling and quality. So imagine what it must have been like owning one of these things over 20 years ago? I had a 1982 Y reg 1.6 GTi, about 5 years ago.
