The Volkswagen Gold mk1 gti. Surely the finest example of a hot hatch to have graced the earth. At the moment i am seriously considering buying one of these firey little devils. They pack quite a punch and you can expect a good example to get from 0-60 in around seven seconds. Considering the age of these cars that is incredibly quick. So, this then, is the first opinion on here with regards to the first and finest hot hatch ever. If you were to drive one of these today you would be amazed by its performance, handling and quality. So imagine what it must have been like owning one of these things over 20 years ago? I had a 1982 Y reg 1.6 GTi, about 5 years ago. I had the car for about 2 and a half years and enjoyed every minute. Great fun to drive Once the car gets older you need to find a good specialist garage to maintain it otherwise it can be very pricey

Good reliable strong car and very nippy too. Non unless you've not got one then thats a disadvantage.
