Advantages: Good reliable strong car and very nippy too.

Disadvantages: Non unless you've not got one then thats a disadvantage.

I don't have a driving licence but my other half owns a black 1994 VW Golf Gti 2.0l 16V with tinted windows, 17" gold alloys, boost valve, performance chip, custom made stainless steel exhaust with cherry bomb in the middle and a Scorpion back box (sounds loud), lowered, performance clutch, body kit (waiting to be fitted although the mk3 Gti 16v has a front splitter and sideskirts and trims fitted already), k & n air filter and much more. I love this little car and it has become our little project and my favorite so far.

The Golf Gti 2.0l 16V is a nippy little car that kicks out 150bhp+ with top speeds of around 140mph (trust me I know this is true) A good strong reliable car as ours has proven. Truely a German car, built with strength and made for the Auto Bahn (oh why does Britain have speed limits!)
The ride can be a bit floaty at high speeds so uprated stiffer suspension does help to shift this.

Our Golf Gti has done over 170,000 miles and is still going strong. The engine still sounds sweet and the chasis and body are still solid.

When we first bought our Mk3 Golf it didn't have the modifications that it has now and it was still an excellent little car then but we realised that it had tons of potential to be better and so thought it was worth spending a bit of money on.

Parts for a Mk3 Golf are fairly cheap if your looking in the right place but can be a bit costly, but not too much, when it comes to the 2.0l 16v model, as we have found out, with prices for some parts doubling from that of the 8v and more standard models. They are rarely seen in our local scrap yard so second hand parts can be hard to find.

I would recommend this car to anyone and would say that the Mk3 Golf Gti 2.0l 16v to be the greatest of all the Mk3 Golfs.

Summary: I love VW

I have never been a fan of the golf, and I think it dates back to the days when they were souped up like the one you describe...!
