Disadvantages: Base spec is very basic
I have driven a 1.4 CL for over 2 years and now own a 1.8 GL.
If you are looking for performance and extras you are going to have to buy something other than the base model, however everything you get is well designed and well built. The car is well balanced and very sturdy. If you can afford the insurance I highly recommend the GTI and the VR6.
All other cars in the same catagory fail to match the Golf on build and reliability. Its expensive, but you do get what you pay for.
