I have owned two VW polo's and I have only owned two cars so I may be biased towards them but I don't apologise for this and I hope my review is still balanced on the pro's and con's. My first polo was an R reg (98) 5 door post-box red basic model polo with no power steering! (yes I had muscles of steel!) I loved it as a first car even though I did spend pounds and pounds on it (it needed some much needed tlc as it was high mileage.) I bought it for £400 (a bit of a bargain thanks to a now ex-boyfriend) and sold it for £585! Bonus! So I loved my old polo that much that I bought another one :) . My new one is a 02 plate, black, 3 door 1.4se ... Read the complete review

As you may know from my previous ops, I like to cover a variety of topics. What ever I write about has to have made some sort of impact on me to inspire my writing, but usually I prefer to take a positive note, generally writing about the things I enjoy or make me happy. However the little car I want to tell you about today had no such good impact on me, but did leave a very firm impression with me, thus I felt it was worthy of an op. - - - - - - - - - - - - - Introduction - Today was the day I traded in my lovely, if not somewhat tired Audi 100 for a slightly less tired, and seemingly more practical Volkswagen Polo C. I have owned it now for ... Read the complete review

Having started my affair with the VW polo pre 1994, I can safely join the ranks of Polo lovers. As a utility car, this is hard to beat. From the front back . . . The engine is typiclly 1.1 or 1.4 and with the awesome VW gearbox, delivers punch, power and speed on demand. The suspension can handle a similarly wide range of circumstances and for me is greatest fun on my own around the back streets of London. Bodywork is pretty standard plate and I prefer the old shape!! Comfortable as a little zoomer, the Polo is quite hard work on a drive longer than a couple of hours, especially if laden. A journey with a passenger and stuff in the boot is a mare from ... Read the complete review

I bought a Polo Coupe about a year ago with 36000 miles on the clock. It was my first car, and I think I would be hard pushed to find a car with similar performance for the money I paid. It may only be 1.024L, but it is very quick off the mark. The back seat is not particularly roomy, but I have had six people in it at once for a fifteen-minute trip; There weren’t too many complaints either. There is a radio in there that provides invaluable entertainment on those long trips., however, the car is not packed with features like electric windows, but what do you expect for just under £2500? It is a compact little car that is easily parked in spaces ... Read the complete review

Polo classic shows some problems with sparking plug cables, which gived electric passage to the ground at aprox. 45000 km. I know that VW in Portugal knows about that but dont say it to their clients. Another drawback... exhaust pipe (near the motor...we call it "colector") . that colector I substituted three times because of fissures creating problems with exhausting smokes and compression. Another thing: driving is not very safe, especialy when you have to bend at more than 60 km/h: the back parte of the car slides some how ... Read the complete review
