Advantages: nippy easy to park, smooth great wee car all round

Disadvantages: hasn` t the power to pull your granny behind ya on a sleigh at Christmas ..NOOOOOO only jokinggggg!!!!

Did you hear the one about the man who just bought a new Volkswagen Polo ?? He brought it back to the salesman and said "You sold me a dud ". Salesman says.."That car was in MINT condition when i sold it to you"……..man says..."Yes.....MINT condition...there`s a dirty great HOLE in the middle !!"......get it ?? yes ?? mint...?? polo ?? hole ??? okkkk so Frank Carson i am not !!...it`s a crackerrrrrr

So , sorry about the "joke"......i LOVE my Volkswagen Polo......best car we ever had. Got it in 1997 and fell in love with it immediately. Have bought Renault and Vauxhall in the past . This was our first venture with Volkswagen and i can`t recommend it highly enough. My ONLY problem in fact was something i read in the papers , and of course we shouldn`t believe everything we read in the papers...right ?? but i read that during World War 2 or around that time , the Volkswagen used Jewish internees as to work their factories...like slave labour.....and that sort of took away the nice minty taste in me mouth....have always meant to look into that story a little further....does anyone else know about it ??
Anyway , ours is a 1.0 litre engine , and no , it probably won`t have the power to pull your granny behind you on her sleigh at Christmas , but what cars that size would ?? It is a nippy little motor , and I LOVE parking with it. Being used to the Vauxhall Astra , I get a pleasant surprise when I see small spaces that you couldn`t swing a cat around by it`s tail….( not that I would even dream of attempting this…just before I get hounded…....hounded? wrong word ??? hehe by all the feline lovers out there )….and I can reverse in no problem , and feel all proud of me wee baby. (Can`t believe I called it that hehehe). Some people say that the boot isn`t great , but when we were considering buying a smaller car we had to take into account the fact that we needed one that w
ould accommodate my dad`s wheelchair. We can set it in standing upright and then lean it over at an angle and take out the shelf that attaches to the boot. So that was the deciding factor for us. We had already fallen in love with the Polo and this was the final and most important test.
I am 6 feet 1 and have no problems with space . We tried out the Corsa before the Polo and it felt as if my head was almost touching the roof (and nooooo I DON`T have a big head !!) But in the POLO it is great. The model we have is basic , it doesn`t have central locking , but we can live with that !! In fact , if I could sing ……I would serenade my baby with “I love you just the way you are “!!!! boooooooo hooooooooo !!!!!!
I love the upholstery and it looks nice and bright inside. For a small car it gives the impression at least of being a lot bigger than it is. We actually couldn`t believe it the first time we got in.
We have had no major problems with it (touch wood…..er metal…..whatever !!!).and in fact the only problems have been with a certain driver who shall remain anonymous !! Well,,,,,,,I mean to say….i didn`t MEAN to reverse into our gates and have to get a new bumper…….i didn`t MEAN to drive too close to a parked car and ruin my wing mirror and his………I didn`t MEAN to close the seat-belt buckle in the door and put a small hole on the inside of the door…at which point my sister burst into tears , as she watched her pride and joy suffer pain….such pain !!!! (ok steady on.i`m getting carried away here).
OK I will finish……for those Ford owners who sneer at my little Polo……..i have a poem for you. Please don`t take it to heart !! I love any car ..whether it be Ford or whatever !!!! This is a poem my dad always quotes :

“ A piece of tin , a bit of a board , a spark and a plug , and you`ve got a FORD !!”
