VW Polo (1994-99): Polo 1.4 - Great little motor! (177 words)
by Fi - written on 30.01.08

Not a bad car, I own a Green 5 door N reg 1.4 Polo. It's my first car and has convinced me that my next car will be a Polo but newer! It's cheap on insurance and petrol and seemingly very reliable I have only had a few things go wrong with it. The window reg broke, the central locking motor has broken, the wiper motor broke... so basically all the ...

I am a 21 year old student and this is my third car; a 1 litre, M-Reg VW Polo. Although I have of course only have a comparatively low experience of car ownership I can certainly guarantee that this little motor is a reliable little run-a-round. The car is currently up t0 103,000 miles and in true solid, German, VW style, is showing no sign of ...

This is what my first car is. I've owned it since Nov '03. Mine is a 1.0L T Reg in white. Now this is the cheapest, most basic model there is. So Im going to keep that in mind in this review. Also remember this is my first car so I dont have any other cars to compare it to really. Anyway on with the ...

I have the advantage of having grown up with a father who was in the motor trade. So from a reasonable driving age I have been able to drive many different cars. The Polo (98) I bought 2 months ago has been a pleasure. I needed a car and fast after crashing my Fiesta on ice in Dec '01. So using the internet I started my search. I had a few ...

I bought my Polo last year July & aside for the couple of times I've beennhit by careless motorists, I must say I 've had no problems at all. It's a '97 P reg & has power assisted air con, electric mirrors & windows & air conditioning. It's my 3rd car the first two being a B reg Astra & a E reg XR2, both of ...

Now I am not a great fan of small cars but a few months back we were looking for a new car for my girlfriend and came accross an N reg red polo, low mileage , small, economical and after looking at a few other small cars this one seemed solid and at £4000 not too badly priced and cheap insurance to boot.. After we got the car home I decided to ...

For a few years now I've been driving a VW Polo (1997 P reg) 1.4CL and to be honest I think this is one of the most fantastic cars I've ever had the pleasure to drive. Its comfortable, safe, fast and very quiet even at very hight speeds. OK here are the meat and bones: Engine. The 1.4i engine is very nice to drive ...

Although you see WAY too many of them around in my opinion, I love my little Polo. Having had 4 clapped out old bangers nicked in a rather short space of time, I decided early last year that it was time to invest in a decent motor. I was advised by those in the know that a Polo was a cool small car, big enough for me and my kids. NOT cheap ...

My father is the proud owner of a VW Polo 1.6 litre fuel injected five door saloon. The car is an R reg and is a lovely bright red in colour. The 1.6litre engine which developes about 70 bhp is ideal for around the town with 35-40 mpg and a nice smooth ride. The out of town driving is just as good with 45mpg and enough power in that little 1.6 ...

A longer than expected trip to our local VW dealer recently included a rather nice trip out in the new model Polo. My understanding is that the new Polo has colour coded door handles and mirrors, central locking (although not via remote control), and a slightly reshaped back end (although I cant tell the difference!). We test drove the 1.4 75bhp ...

I traded in my Renault Clio for a Wolkswagen Polo. The garage I bought it from were very efficient and were flexible in the price negotiated! The car itself is spacious enough, has front electronic windows, mirrors, adjustible seats, removable radio, plus lots of extras. The engine size is 1.4 and it very nippy and powerful when you need it! I ...

I myself have seen the polo gti it its prime and if feel that it is greatly improved on the past models. It combines power with what we have become acustomed to hearing about VW. I owned a golf 1.4 and felt this engine more to be less than economical and rather lacking in power especially on hill when attempting to over take something when the ...

I have had my polo for almost a year and it's great! I did have a Peugeot 106 but the polo is a much more solid and reliable car. I've had no trouble with it and looks good and is very smooth and comfortable. Mine is one of the earlier 1.0 cars which is a bit slow but can still be quite nippy when it needs to be! Its also very roomy ...

Most people's conception of the polo is a stubby mini hatchback. Well built, expensive and german. I have a Polo which is none of these. Mine is the 1.9TD Saloon. The booted version completely revolutionises the look of the car. The handling is superb and the interior quite sufficient - except say for tall people in the back. This ...

I got a New Polo a few months ago and I love it. The new polo is now virtually identical to a golf. I have the 1.4 and find it fast, nippy and powerful. It happily breaks the national speed limit and more.... The interior is in common with other VW models, round, stylish, retro, with a beautiful blue dash. The back seat has plenty of room ...

I love polos my family have been buying them ever since they were thought up since nearly twenty years ago. I spent some of my child hood throwing up in the back of a polo. Those were the days.
