Advantages: Comfort
Disadvantages: Running Costs
As most people will tell you the Sharran is the same as a Ford Galaxy. What these people will not tell you is that there are many differences that more than make up for the price difference. The first time I looked at the differences I couldn’t quite put my finger on them, but the longer I have owned the Sharran these differences have become more apparent. The first thing I noticed was the different rear. The Ford has a tacky red plastic that right across the back. Other differences I have noticed in the twelve months. Plusher interior. Better paint finish. More Soundproofing. Better CD Player. Deeper carpets. If you look at the door seal welding the Sharran has a much better finish. When we decided it was a choice between the Galaxy and the Sharran we had to take into account the engine type. The wait for an automatic diesel from ford was three to six months, this delay was due to the fact that the diesel engine is supplied by Volkswagen. The Sharran waiting list was one month. This is what persuaded us to purchase the Sharran, the question arose that if we had a problem with the engine who would have a better knowledge of the engine. Running cost : Around town 28 – 30 mpg Long Motorway run 48 – 56 mpg Service due 12 months or 10,000 miles Problems since purchase: Blown rear light bulb Blown Stereo fuse In the end I am very pleased with the Sharran but the choice came down to the engine type. If I went for the V6 Petrol I may have chosen the Galaxy.
