Advantages: Economical + Giant Boot

Disadvantages: Not much "excitement" (or electric windows)

The last years driving in my Vento TD has been superb and trouble free. I've covered 10,000 miles @ 54 mpg; a significant improvement on my previous VW Jetta 1.6 Petrol.

My Vento (3 yr old in Nov 2000) is solid (Very solid) spacious, economical but not really very quick off the mark. The Turbo is most noticable on the motorways where acceleration to overtake is easy and doesnt require changing down a gear.
I really wanted to get a VW Bora but the extra cash needed was way in excess of the slight benefit of a newer car.
The popularity of the Golf means I bought my Vento for roughly £1500 LESS than an identical spec Golf, and yes I do occassionally FILL the Boot.
