VW Sharan S TDI 1.9 6-speed 5dr: ... some trepidation I have decided to once again enter the world of motoring reviews. I have to admit that my technical knowledge of cars is basic to say the least but I do drive the things, more than I want to really so I do have some experience with them which might be useful to other motorists. So here goes an ‘idiots’ guide to the VW Sharan Turbo Diesel multi purpose vehicle (MPV). HOW AND WHY...

potcake VW Golf Mk III (1992-98)
... owned a Golf 1.4cl Mark 111 (1992 model) for 5 years. It was by far the best car I have had. It was built like a brick and easy to drive even though there was no power steering, I felt very safe in it. It never needed any major work on it, in fact I think all it ever required were new tyres! I sold it with 160k on the clock and it still ran like new. Always started beautifully and the heating warmed up immediately. A friend has a golf that how now done over 240k and is still running sweet. ...

radman VW Bora 1.9 Sport TDI PD 4dr
... I've now had my Bora for six months, so I've probably driven it enough to get a decent impression of the car (9000 miles done so far). I've got the 130Bhp version which you would have thought it would be fairly quick, and it is. However, thank goodness for the traction control - It is all too easy to accelerate too hard from junctions, and without the assistance, you'd just end up wheel spinning all the time. Although it's a diesel, noise isn't too much of a problem over about 25-30 Mph. At lower speeds, you can tell it's an oil burner, but the fast it goes, the quieter it seems to get. Indeed, the number of times I've looked d...

blairr VW Polo (1994-99)
... have the advantage of having grown up with a father who was in the motor trade. So from a reasonable driving age I have been able to drive many different cars. The Polo (98) I bought 2 months ago has been a pleasure. I needed a car and fast after crashing my Fiesta on ice in Dec '01. So using the internet I started my search. I had a few models in mind.. Ka, Polo, 206, etc so was able to narrow the search to only a few models. But after test driving the Polo I knew it was what I wanted. The deal I got was fair thorugh VW finance and only paying £120pcm. The ride and build quality of the Polo has been excellent and I cannot fault it in any area (OK so the central lo...
