The new Cross Country Volvo XC60 has all the advantages of the XC70 ie: smooth to drive, comfortable for long distances, 4 wheel drive certainty, 'pulling power', in the correct sense of the word plus improvements!
1. Slightly higher seating position, great for those with restricted spinal mobility.
2. Better fuel consumption of 35+ miles to the gallon of diesel in my 2.5litre automatic.
3. Increased visibility, all round as the driver is higher and the vehicle is slightly shorter!
4. Overtaking is more accessible and rewarding with the slightly lighter body. This also results in a feeling of greater responsiveness, even though the engine is the same 2.5ltr
The only downside I have been able to identify is when touring. I towed a heavy Hobby caravan through Germany, Switzerland and France over the summer and whilst there was never a hint of difficulty, there was a difference in overtaking ability to the XC70! The XC70 is heavier and so the weight ratio made towing slightly more economical and reassuring.
The volvo cross country would be my ideal choice of car money permitting.I currently drive an Audi avant estate but I see this in the showroom every day and dream... I've been in the showroom and seen it close up metallic silver blue it has a ozone to oxygen prem air system where any grond level ozone passes through the radiator to be converted into atmospheric oxygen .Cool! It has optimum ground clearance and maintains outstanding stability on both tough terrain and country roads. Intelligent all wheel drive with an anti spin system(TRACS) ensures poise and responsiveness in all conditions.A car for the school run a car for rough terrain ,a 200bhp engine size 2.4.I guess you'll have gathered I love this car.The cost is well mega bucks.I wonder how many dooyoo opinions I'd have to write to buy this one!!!
