The new Cross Country Volvo XC60 has all the advantages of the XC70 ie: smooth to drive, comfortable for long distances, 4 wheel drive certainty, 'pulling power', in the correct sense of the word plus improvements! 1. Slightly higher seating position, great for those with restricted spinal mobility. 2. Better fuel consumption of 35+ miles to the gallon of diesel in my 2.5litre automatic. 3. Increased visibility, all round as the driver is higher and the vehicle is slightly shorter! 4. Overtaking is more accessible and rewarding with the slightly lighter body. What a car! I borrowed one for a period of a few months for work. During a work drive to Oxford from Newcastle formed the bulk of my opinion, but i still found this to be a very capable vehicle over the period that i had it. It had an automatic gear box, and was amazingly comfortable. the four wheel drive makes it extremely sure footed. The steering, whilst a little imprecise is direct and insulates you from the worst bangs and bumps of the road. The gear box is smooth, and does not jerk on change up or down like many do. The volvo cross country would be my ideal choice of car money permitting.I currently drive an Audi avant estate but I see this in the showroom every day and dream... I've been in the showroom and seen it close up metallic silver blue it has a ozone to oxygen prem air system where any grond level ozone passes through the radiator to be converted into atmospheric oxygen .Cool!It has optimum ground clearance and maintains outstanding stability on both tough terrain and country roads.
