Advantages: Safe, Functional, Quick
Disadvantages: Bland, Not as good as its rivals
It goes like s*** of a stick but it doesn't have the class to challenge its rivals. Admitedly it does look a lot better than most previous Volvos but that really isn't saying much is it? Inside everything is functional and whilst having good levels of equipment it just doesn't feel like it has got much class. Its almost like having an Escort with leather seats and all the gizmos - not really right!
However dispite its relative lack of class the Volvo is a really good car. It does handle reasonably well for it size but again you have to remember what you are comparing it with - BMW, Audi, Mercedes etc. The BMW handles better, the Audi has more style and the Mercedes has more class. Against this competition not many cars have much chance but Volvo have come the closest to matching all three.
And of course its got Volvo's safety...... but don't drive it off a roof!

- 27/08/06 I think that saying the volvo V70 t5 lacks class is a little harsh.If you are going to compare it to a Mercedes,BMW or an Audi.
We are comparing a top of the range Volvo which only costs between £30k - £40,000 depending where you buy it from,compare that to what you get for that price at these other dealers.I think you will be very suprised at what you are actually getting for your money.To reach the quality of what Volvo are offering you need to spend at least between £10k - £30,000 extra to equal the quality.
Admitedely though the Volvo handling is not as good as the top of the range Audi,but saying that,isn't the Audi known around the world for its handling.
Ive driven the top of the range in all these cars and i was quite suprised at the quality of the top of the range Volvo.If you want a car from any other dealer offering the same quality then get out your wallet with all your bank cards and leave them with the dealer because they will need to drain your account of your hard earned cash.If you have that sort of money why not add another £10K and buy yourself a Porsche.
Comparing a Volvo to a ford Escort is an insult to the men and women who put many years of their life into providing the world with one of the safest,most reliable and,according to almost every car magazine,one of the most beautiful estate cars ever made.
Finaly,if you want quality,you will find it at Audi,Mercedes,BMW and even at Volvo,but if you would rather save some money to spend on that extension on your house but you dont want to compromise on the quality of your car then buy a Volvo,you will not regret it. |
