Volvo S60:
... up front I am going to confess that I am writing this as a slightly frustrated non-Volvo S60 driver. Strange statement that don t you think? But there we are, out here in the big bad world we do not always get what we want……. …….and we (Mrs Richada and I) really wanted a Volvo S60, but not as it happens, this the most powerful 220bhp 2.4 litre T5 Sport version. 15 years ago I would have not looked at a Volvo... Volvo C70 2.0 T Convertible ... was courtesy of the Volvo Freedom event that I found myself behind the wheel of the C70 2.4T Convertible for 45 minutes. A longer drive would have enabled me to really get to know the car, but alas I only had just under an hour so this review is very much about first impressions. I first woke up to Volvo s C70 when I saw Val Kilmer s movie "The Saint". He cut a dashing picture in this sleek bronze coupe that looked every bit as elegant and powerful as the character himself. I even remember sitting in the cinema thinking "I wouldn t mind one of those!". That was back in 1997 - have I changed that much? From the outside, the drop top is still a ... Volvo XC90 ... am very much aware that my wife is by a long way NOT alone in being a fan of this particular car. A good couple of years after its launch Volvo still have a healthy waiting list for them. That means two things; 1) Volvo actually under-priced this car when they launched it and; 2) that of all the 4X4 s on the market the XC90 makes by far the most sound financial sense, its residual (second hand) value is second to none. Volvo were undoubtedly surprised by the runaway success of their very first entry into the proper 4x4, or as the Americans would call it SUV, Sport Utility Vehicle, market. Sure, they had dabbled with four wheel drive versions of the V70 Estate, but th... Read the full review: XC90 T6 EXECUTIVE. MPV = More Please Volvo! by Richada |

Volvo S40 1.8 (122 bhp) 4dr ... was given a 2000 (W) Volvo S40 1.8 (122bhp) XS when my car was written off (a long story) so I am not sure what I would have had to pay for this model which now has 85,000 miles. Looking at Glass’s Guide values, I would get something like £2,000 to £2,300 for trade, and I would have to pay up to £4,700 for one in perfect condition at retail. Would I have chosen a Volvo? Probably not. However, I have now had the car for 9 months and would now at least consider one. It’s a pleasure to drive, but not perfect. From outside the car has a reasonably attractive design along with alloy wheels to give a sense of quality. Like your average looking person that cares about...
