Premium Review VW Golf GTI Hatchback 1.9GT TDI 5-door 115bhp: Class, quality, image, economy and performance. (423 words)

I bought one of these Golfs in 2004 to replace a petrol Honda Accord I had been running for 2 years. My main reason for purchase was improved diesel fuel economy, I was not dissapointed. Even when driving fairly hard, you would manage to register an average fuel consumption of 50 Mpg, if you took it easy on the motorway, 70mph in 6th gear, on ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Golf TDI PD vs 2.0 GTi (263 words)

Last week I took delivery of my second Golf, having replaced my GTi with the GT TDI PD 115bhp model. I have had company cars for the last 12 years, and in that time had various cars from Mondeos and Lagunas to a Volvo V40. I think the current Golf is the best all round car I've had, built to a very high standard, and with a big 'feel ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review VW Golf GTI Hatchback 1.9GT TDI 5-door 115bhp: Superb MPG and pretty swift too (162 words)
by - written on 12/02/01 (Useful, 1540 readings)
Rating:

The car is not a GTI but is swift and handles well. It's best feature is the frugal turbo diesel. I've owned one since January 2000 and have averaged 49mpg over the 18,500 miles I've travelled. That includes some hard motorway driving as well as lots of town driving. the car's torque is brilliant and makes hills seem unnoticeable. ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review GT TDi beats the GTi hands down! (116 words)
by - written on 28/10/00 (Very useful, 2560 readings)
Rating:

This car combines all the things you need in a car at an affordable price. I just imported one from europe at a saving of over £4000! and I can't believe just how good it is. Before you say "it's a diesel though," consider this. At the same price as the petrol GTi, this car's 115 bhp takes it from 0-60mph faster than the petrol version. ...  Read the complete review

A woman's perspective! I like to feel as though I'm part of a car-like I'm wrapped in it (instead of perched on top with my seat bolt upright and my nose pressed against the windscreen) I get this from my Golf TDi, I feel it's safe. OK the seats are firm and the ride can be hard, but it's wonderful to be able to drive over ...  Read the complete review
