I currently own the VW Golf MK4 E SDI 1.9 in Black and I have owned this car since 2003. It was my second car and I was the second owner. I picked this car up when it had done 30000 miles and since then it has now done 130000 miles and is still goiong strong.

I am going to be honest at this point and tell you that I am not a big car enthusiast. If my car needs something doing to it, I take it to a garage. I am also not into body kits on cars or anything like that. However, I do think that the MK4 Golf is the best looking model there is. The car itself is extremely drivable, I regularly drive long distances in the car and it is very comfortable and very responsive. Even though I have a diesel it is also very quick and nimble setting off.

On the whole this golf has also been very reliable, in fact in my entire ownership of this car only one thing has gone wrong of its own accord and that was that the water pump nearly broke, but manage to get it to a garage just in time. The one problem that I have noticed with my car and other peoples Golfs is that floor of the engine compartment is sealed with a plastic cover and over time the screws that hold this in place have sheared off. This does not cause a problem to the engine or anything important, however, it does on occasions catch the floor. Again this does not cause any damage and when it comes to service time this is temporarily fixed. It is more annoying that anything else. The only other mild annoyance is that the boot seems to attract dirt! The rest of the car can be spottless but after just a short drive the boot is filthy!

Insurance wise this car is fantastic. My first car when I was 18 was a 1.2 Renault Clio and I used to pay astronomical insurance, so when I got a 1.9 engine I was very worried. However, because a 1.9 Diesel is not viewed as a "boy racer" car the insurance was very reasonable.

Overall I am very happy with this car and would buy one again in a heart beat.
