... top-notch. As a bit of a woman driver, it took me some time to adjust to simply pushing a button for the handbrake, and I found hill-starts really stressful, especially if some-one was queuing behind me!! The brakes were also far more powerful than I was used to, resulting in a couple of near rear-enders! In terms of drive, for a diesel it was exceptionally quiet and luxurious, and although it pains me to admit it, I felt incredibly smug in my sexy black executive car after my previous one (a Fiesta!). In short, I n...more

First time i have had a vw and i have to say i am pleasantly surprised sorry you will get no technical info in this review, but my review is down to earth. The Passat is for me the ideal family car, no complaints from the kids either unlike my previous car. Fuel consumption i have found pretty average for the size of the car. Good feature nice looking and comfort zone great, i enjoy the armrests which are big and fold away tidy. The are plenty of compartments all over the car with plenty of room including a small metal secure box in the glove compartment, its all the little touches that does it for me. The only one thing i do not like is the handbrake which is a ...  Read the complete review

THIS REALLY IS A SHED (733 words)

I am writing this review to warn any potential buyers of the VW Passat not to bother, as there is so many design faults that it really shouldn't have been put into production. I am not going to go into all the high tech spec, I am just going to highlight the problems that we have had with ours. ~~~~Handbrake gets stuck on~~~~ We were out driving one day when we had parked up, after doing what we had to, we started up the car and went to pull away, but before we could do that we had to let off the electric handbrake which is located to the right of the steering wheel. When we pressed it, it wouldn't move and there was a warning message on the dash ...  Read the complete review

When I changed jobs last year, one of these turned up at my house the Friday before I started - it was hired for me as an interim company car and I haven't looked back. I've got the Bluemotion version, which is kind of lowered and slightly gangsta-looking - in black, with decent spec but not top-notch. As a bit of a woman driver, it took me some time to adjust to simply pushing a button for the handbrake, and I found hill-starts really stressful, especially if some-one was queuing behind me!! Hello! I bought this car about one year ago with 70000 miles on clock. It`s 2003 model. I needed spacious vehicle(I`m tall man) with economical diesel engine. After a year the feelings about this car become a bit more passionate. Comfort and space: Drive is very comfortable. Seats are a very confortable shape. There is very little external noise. The interior is plush velvet. The dashboard and panels are of course part plastic but the finish is of a good class. The climate control i excellent, set at temp and it keeps at it-ideal for long hot jurneys. There is plenty of space for driver and passangers. Boot is very big. Pity that back seats dont create ...  Read the complete review

I have driven several of these as hire cars.. so in the long term I cannot say how they hold up. But as a new car, they are a very nice drive. Cruising for hundreds of miles in these is as effortless as it gets. Climate control, very nice stereo, bells and whistles on the trip computer to pass the time of the miles... turbo charged acceleration at the higher speeds when you need to pass something quickly, comfortable seats, well finished interior, BIG boot, (for my briefcase!??),.. power everything.. CD changer. It has a business feel to it. And, diesel, .. its cheap. I am not sure if the model above is it, but the ones I have driven have had six gears. So for that ...  Read the complete review
