Advantages: High seating positon, great dashboard layout. Scarce.

Disadvantages: None worth mentioning

I purchased this car when it was only 3 months old with around 3k miles on the clock. Had looked at Golf Diesel and also the Passat Diesel. Neither suited my requirements, the Golf was a bit on the small side and the Passat to big. The Tiguan is a compact crossover in the same genre as the Honda CRV, Ford Kuga and Toyota Rav4. The Tiguan feels more special inside, the quality of the materials used on the interior feel and look every bit as good as an Audi Q5 or BMW X1, not many cars can compete in the same league.
The steering wheel and dash layout will be familiar to anyone who has driven a Golf, but the Tiguan has some unique touches like the metal surrounds on the air vents. If you go for the Match model you get Bluetooth, Park Assist and a Touchscreen radio with a slot for SD cards. I have an 8Gb in mine and can store thousands of songs in MP3 format.
The best selling model is likely to be the 2.0TDI Match. It has ample power and a high specification level. Impressive fuel economy for a Compact Crossover of 44.1 MPG and an impressive almost car like ride quality make this the ideal family car.
There is a more powerful 170ps 2.0TDI, but for me the 140ps has the best blend of performance and economy for most drivers.

Summary: A superb car that is a the top of its category.
