Armitage Good Girl Cat Brush
Advantages: Doesn't cause my cats pain or discomfort, brushes out knots and tangles easily, good price.
Disadvantages: None for me.
I have three lovely cats and whilst my youngest two are short haired and shed very little, seven year old Ollie is a big ginger ball of fluff and, if he doesn't have half of the back garden caught up in his Basil Brush like tail, he's leaving big balls of fur absolutely everywhere he stands or sits for more than five seconds. This does get a little annoying, particularly when I turn my back for five minutes to find he's made himself comfortable on a pile of freshly washed, warm clothes I've just taken out of the tumble dryer!
After searching high and low for my old cat brush with no success, I ended up purchasing this Armitage Good Girl brush from Tesco with my weekly shop where it cost £3.
The oval shaped brush contains a good number of flexible bristles which are tough enough to brush knots out of Ollie's coat without hurting him. The black and white handle is around five inches long and a couple of inches wide, its covering is soft and durable and the brush is generally just very easy and very comfortable to hold. There's a cute little paw print at the end of the handle too which makes the brush look a little less boring.
Fortunately for me, none of my cats mind being brushed; in fact Ollie clearly enjoys it! So I have no difficulty in getting them to allow me to brush their coats. I usually wait for the evening to come, let Ollie curl up on my lap and then get the brush out. This one glides through his long fur easily and causes no stress for my cat whatsoever. I am able to get any bits of plant out of Ollie's tail as well as knots quickly and fuss free with this. After about ten minutes when I'm satisfied Ollie has been completely brushed I am able to easily pull his fur out from between the bristles of the brush to put it in the bin and have a clean brush once more.
My younger two, Yuki and Meg, only require a quick brush just to get out any fur which is ready to shed all over my house and this is easy and simple to do also so I would say this brush suits both long and short haired cats.
The brush is clearly effective too as I have noticed a significantly less amount of ginger fur knocking about my house since starting to regularly brush Ollie with this. So the brush does its job, my cats quite enjoy it and brushing them makes me feel quite calm and relaxed too. Not bad for £3!
Summary: A gentle and effective brush for my cats.
