Advantages: Work for us
Disadvantages: None for us
I was horrified when just before Christmas I took my lovely kitten Myrtle to be spade at the vets that when I went to collect her she was fine but a tapeworm had been noted coming out of her bum! Me, I am very hot on my care for Myrtle and she had been wormed about two months previously so I thought we was covered on the worm front so to hear that was pretty distressing to me. All I can assume is that the last brand of worm tablets I used simply didn't work for her so I went into Pets At Home and bought this treatment. The vet thinks that although we are only meant to worm our kittens and cats every 3 months that I am best for the next 3 months to worm her monthly as she seemed to be riddled with them and I bought these ones with the help of the staffs advice in Pets At Home.
I bought these in a box containing 2 tablets which of course would usually then cover our kittens and cats from worms for a whole six months.......not bad for a mere £6.99 eh?! The box is green and yellow with a photograph of a couple of cats on there and we are told what they are and who they are by and that they are suitable for cats & kittens over 12 weeks of age and that they are effective in one dose from Tapeworms and Roundworms and then other information stated on the box includes being told a bit about the product and how to use them, lots of dosage advice is given depending on the weight of you cat or kitten, ingredients are listed and contact details for the manufacturer are also stated. Inside the box the tablets come in a foil tray and the tablets are very simple and easy to pop out of that.
The tablets are round in shape and white in colour, not too thick and generally not too big. For my Myrtles weight she needs one tablet per dose though as I have already mentioned dosage advice is given and for very small cats you can get away with 1/2 a tablet and for very large one you will need to give 2 of them. You can break it easily by snapping it, disguise it in food or do as I do.....I pop it in Myrtles mouth and gently rub her neck. She never minds taking these in fact I gave her a treatment this morning whilst I was fussing her and she purred through it!
Do They Work?:
According to the vet they have worked for Myrtle. She went for a checkup recently and had her bum and that checked over and nothing was seen thank goodness. I never knew she had them in the first place mind you, they certainly never ever did peer out of her bum and wave hello to me and neither did I see them in her poo but the vet assures me the problem seems to be gone now but to continue a little while longer on a monthly basis with a worm treatment to make sure that the worms are clearly gone from her intestines. I mean who wants worms nibbling those after all. Yuk!
I am really really pleased with these. The price is good which is nice for me but the most important thing to me is Myrtles more comfortable and more healthy and I will certainly continue using these!
Available online and from Pets At Home.
