The product
This is a litter freshener for going in a cats litter tray to help mask smells and keep your cats litter tray smelling fresh at all times (supposedly!).

The packaging
This is a thick cardboard tub that has a plastic pop on & off lid. It's very simple packaging but it's thick enough to be protected from knocks and bumps on the way home from the supermarket and it survived the lug up my 48 stairs in our flats when it was delivered by Tesco.

How to use it
When changing your cats litter (should be done at least once a week) just sprinkle around 50g of this in to the litter tray and mix it around well.

Does it work?
We have been using this for around four weeks now and the current tub is almost finished. The litter tray does not appear to smell any different to normal and the only difference that can be smelt is that there is a light fragrance in the air when this is first used. It does smell quite clean but as soon as my cat has used her litter tray, normally immediately after we've changed it, it just takes on a musky smell again and once it's been a day or two since we last changed it then we can pick up the scent of ammonia more and more as the tray becomes more used.

Where can I buy it from & how much?
This can be purchased from several chains of pet stores and from a few of the supermarket chains. Our pot was purchased from Tesco.co.uk and a 500g pot set me back £1.00 which appears to be the standard price online and not a promotional one (correct July 2011).

Overall opinion
This isn't really a successful product for us. It's very simple to use, easy to store and the packaging is effective. The instructions for use are very simple and it takes just a few more seconds to add this to the litter tray when changing the litter. We usually change our litter about every 4 or 5 days and I must say that by the time one of us ends up changing it again there really isn't much difference noticed between the litter without this in it and the litter with it.

My cat doesn't appear to notice any difference and will still happily use her litter tray without any fuss.
The initial scent that is noticed when we use this is quite a fresh, clean scent and it's quite a shame that this doesn't stay fragrant and effective once the litter tray is in use. I really was expecting a nice scent from this and while I didn't think it would totally mask all scents when our cat had used her tray I was thinking it would at least leave our hallway smelling a little more fresh and fragrant when guests came round.

On one weekend we went away for a couple of days and upon returning home we were astounded by just how badly our flat smelt, particularly because of the cats litter tray, and I think that this has made us even more conscious of the nasty whiffs and smells. I won't be purchasing this again and to be honest I wouldn't really recommend it, like a few other Bob Martin products we have tried in recent months.
