      A good quality post

Cats like to scratch, it is part of their character. They do it to sharpen their claws but also to leave scent. They like people and other cats to know that they are there and what they are up to. Once they find something they like to scratch, they will usually stick to it. I bought this scratch post to keep Prince from scratching the furniture. He always uses the scratch post and my settee has remained scratch free. ==Price and availability== The scratch post is available online for £19.99 from the Zooplus website. You can also buy it on eBay where I got mine for and I paid £17.99. ==Description== The scratch post is chunky with a firm solid base. The post is large at 80 cm tall which gives the cat chance to really stretch up. The base is large and heavy to support the weight and measures 40 cm by 40 cm. The base is made from chipboard and is around 2 cm thick so it is quite weighted. The post is covered in thick strong sisal rope that can really take a good scratching. It does not shred or break easily. It is beige in colour so it fits in well with my home decor. I keep it behind the sofa so it is out of view and I often hear Prince using it. Due to the quality and the tough rope I can envisage this toy lasting me a long time. ==Our experiences== Prince loves to scratch and he loves to to stand up tall on his back legs and pull at the post. I am really glad that the post is so big as he puts the whole thing to good use. The base is firm and holds the post steady without it wobbling. When you buy the post it comes in two sections, the base and the pole. The pole has a threaded screw built in to it and the base has a threaded hole. The pole needs screwing into the base and once it is tight it does not wobble and forms a very steady structure. I am impressed with the rope on this scratch post as it is really tough. Prince is determined to destroy it but so far it has only frayed a really small amount. He goes for a good five minutes sometimes, pulling away at it. I like the fact that the post is not very noisy too. We have it in the front room so I was worried it would make a racket when he pulled on it but luckily it doesn't! ==Overall== This is good quality and tough and both myself and Prince Cat is really happy with it.
