“ Brand: Hartz / Type: Cat Toy „
I had seen this in Asda a few times and it had caught my eye. The Scrunch n Punch is a sort of standing dangle toy for cats meaning that they can have the dangle toy aspects that they know and love without needing someone to play with them. The price of this toy was a ridiculously low £2.67 I believe, it definitely wasn't over £2.70. For this price I decided that it was definitely worth getting one though to be entirely honest I didn't hold much hope.
The toy comes packed in a box and you need to clip it together yourself which takes seconds. The base of the toy is about a foot square and is made from a thin plastic. I'm not sure what is put inside the base but it's scrunch meaning that when pressure is put on it it makes a noise and possibly gives the cat some sort of massage. The base has a hole in and you are provided with two yellow pieces, one that goes on the end of the pole and the other that clips into the bottom of the base. You then simply clip the two together through the hole in the base and you are ready to go!
The pole has three separate wires which all have a different toy attached to the tip. There are two different types of ball and one with feathers.
This toy was an immediate hit. He wanted it as soon as I opened the box. He loved pouncing on the base and catching and hitting the different toys. The wire allows each toy to bounce back and forth which retains the cats interest. My kitten loves this toy and has on occasion played with it for half an hour!
The base was the first bit to look a little tired. It quickly showed teeth marks but I wasn't too fussed. However a few weeks ago I found the wires and toys out of the base and on the floor. I clipped it back together but it happened again and I have noticed that the thin plastic around the hole has split so there is no longer enough support. Since then it's split further meaning that the wire will never stay stood up now!
Despite this I do like this and I will be buying another when in Asda. The kitten really loves it and it is definitely one of his favourite toys. It keeps him occupied and he has fun. For the price, I'm really not worried that it has broken but Hartz could look into some sort of reinforced plastic to prevent splitting.
I would definitely recommend this if your cat likes hunting and dangle toys. For the price, if it only lasts a few weeks it really doesn't matter.
