Our cats love balls and they have a vast range to choose from - they have bouncy balls, balls with bells in, slatted balls - you name it they will have one. One ball they didn't have though was the Jolly moggy Catnip Rope balls which my daughter insisted they need!

The balls came in a pack of two and cost £1.75 from our local pet shop. They came in a little plastic pack with a cardboard top stating what they were and who they were made by. I personally had never seen balls like these ones before so thought it would be a nice little set of new toys for our two terrors plus I was hoping that they would help with their claws as well being made from rope.

These balls have a cat nip oil in the rope itself and you are supposed to rub the balls in the palms of your hands to release the oils and the scent for your cats to make them go mad for the balls. As any cat owner will know, cat nip is just one of those things you cat will either love or hate. There is no inbetween so when or if you purchase these keep it in mind that there is a chance your cat just won't like them because of the cat nip!

The balls are really simple and it is basically rope wrapped around a little ball but it doesn't matter how simple they are, my cats just love them. They dart around the house chasing after these balls and just have a good time with them. The funniest thing is when one of our cats hooks his claw into the rope and then flings the ball himself - it is really very clever!

The downside to these balls is that one, there is no bell and I think my cats were waiting for the ringing sound but it never came with this balls. And also, they are nowhere near as durable as I expected them to be. After a couple of weeks, I noticed that the rope was starting to unravel and expose the little black ball inside. I tried to fix it but it was just a lost cause and ended up in the bin. The other ball looks like it will be going the same way as it is really fraying.

I do recommend them all the same as they are so cheap they are easy to replace plus they are alot of fun for cats though I will only give 4 DooYoo stars.

      Jolly Moggy Catnip Rope Balls

I always love when they say on the packaged: "Cats should be supervised when playing". Really? Have you ever tried to supervise a cat during playing? I would have to run through the whole house and under the couch, behind the plants and up the bookshelf! Apparently you will have to supervise your cat while he's playing with this toy: Jolly Moggy Catnip Rope Balls.

The Jolly Moggy Catnip Rope Balls are part of the Wild Catnip Toy range from Jolly Moggy. Jolly Moggy is a known brand for me and we have several toys from them for our cat. They have been quite successful so buying these little balls wasn't really a difficult decision. Also the balls are only 2,35 pounds which isn't really expensive for some entertainment for the cat.

The balls I'm talking of around two balls that are made of rope infused with catnip. Catnip is like a drug for cats that keep them interested and going mental while playing with the toy. It certainly always seems to work for my cat and he's always enjoying himself for sometimes hours. These balls are literally from rope all wrapped into a ball about 5 to 6 cm big.

The balls look really simple and cheap but they were a success from the beginning. I think it's because the catnip with also the rope seems to work because he can get a good grip with his paws. He grasps the ball and them tries to get it off his nails while trying to ge the ball back again. It's actually very funny to see him running and going crazy. Sometimes it does make me scared he won't jump towards the television or something but he has been good for now.

These Jolly Moggy Catnip Rope Balls were a good purchase and he played with them for about a month maybe two months but then the balls really get bad. The rope lets loose and it just becomes a mess. He does have a lot of fun for two months and that only for 2,35 pounds.

I wish they had lasted a bit longer.

We like to buy new toys for our girls regularly. It keeps them interested and alert. The latest toy we got them were the Jolly Moggy Catnip Rope Balls. I cant remember how much exactly we paid for them but they were under 2 pounds. They can be found on Amazon and e bay and I'm sure most pet stores. I got mine from Amazon when I was getting some other things. Jolly Moggy do a lot of different cat toys.

The Catnip Balls come in a clear pack so you can see exactly what you are buying. They just have a small cardboard label on the top which is red and just says Jolly Moggy catnip rope balls on it.

The balls are made of a rope type material and are full of 100% natural catnip. The idea is that you rub them between your hands to release the oils from the catnip.

I've got 3 cats and they all absolutely loved the catnip rope balls. They went mental with them. One of my cats carried one around with her wherever she went, it was very cute. The rope balls went down a treat with my girls.

The down side to these toys is that my cats have had them for just over two weeks and they are beginning to show signs of wear and tear. One ball has been so badly chewed and shredded I've taken it away from them and binned it.
The other ball is rapidly heading in the same direction. I'm a bit disappointed in their durability. Not because of the price but the fact that my babies loved them. I will definitely buy them some more of these. They gave them a lot of fun. Its such a shame it wasn't for a bit longer.

        A fun toy with limitations

Our cats being the playful little devils that they are, like to be entertained with new toys every now an then. As any pet owner knows buying such toys can be a bit hit and miss and its a minefield trying to choose 'the right' toy for your pet.

When we saw the Jolly Moggy Catnip Rope Balls we thought they were interesting enough for our cats, to want to take a look and so we took a punt and bought them. As they have now been added as a product here, I can share my views and experience.

        **********************************************************
When we bought our pack of Jolly Moggy Catnip Rope Balls we thought that the texture of the product may appeal to our cats as there seemed plenty to get their claws into. When we purchased these cat play balls they came simply packed as displayed here, in a clear plastic hang bag type of packing.

We could clearly see what we were getting for our £1.49 spend and as the pack contained 2 of the catnip rope balls there was one each for our cats to enjoy, so neither would be left out of the fun if they proved to be a hit. When working out a cost per toy, the price was roughly 75p per cat toy, so not too expensive if our cats turned their noses up at them.

        **********************************************************
Once out of the pack each of the Jolly Moggy Catnip Rope Balls was a simply made product that had plenty of rustic simplicity about it. In other words we kind of looked at them and thought, 'oh they are a bit plain, but the cats will probably like them more than we do'. At that point we did think we may have made a mistake with them.

Each of the catnip balls is made from entwined rope that manages to hold itself together well enough to form a ball shape that can be rolled and clawed by an eager catnip enhanced kitty. They are quite small at 7cms in diameter, but not so small that a cat could swallow one whole. Although our naughty cats did make rather short work of shredding them!

        **********************************************************
When we gave our cats a chance to have some fun with the Jolly Moggy Catnip Rope Balls we knew that we would have to join in with the fun a little to get them started. A few light and teasing rolls of the catnip balls was enough to draw one of the cats attention. They soon wandered over to take a look.

We found that both our cats quickly began to paw and claw at the catnip balls as well rolled them for them to catch and play with. The texture of the Jolly Moggy Catnip Rope Balls was something that our cats found a bit odd at first, but they soon began to get stuck into the game of gnawing and pawing them. After a while we thought our cats were interested enough to use the catnip balls themselves which they seemed to enjoy.

        **********************************************************
After a few days passed we noticed that the Jolly Moggy Catnip Rope Balls had become rather frayed and sad looking around the edges. This was something we expected as they are only made from rope material and our cats have sharp teeth and claws built for making short work of most things they play, with unless we keep our beady eyes on them.

It didn't take very long until both the catnip balls were so chewed and clawed up that we noticed tiny bits of the rope material being chewed on by the cats. Once we realised that they were making their way through these far to quickly and had begun properly chewing on the toys shredding parts of them, they had to go. At most I would say the catnip balls lasted 10 days before they went to cat toy heaven......The bin!

        *********************************************************
As cat toys go, they were something our cats really liked. They had the addition of catnip which works well for our cats and although play did sometimes become rather frenetic with lots of clawing, swiping and biting, it did settle to a more lurrved up rolling about with their claws firmly pressed into the catnip balls over time.

As the catnip balls were made of a material which in my opinion was made to degrade over time, we didn't expect these to last for ever. The fact that they lasted as long as they did, seems good when thinking about their price and general construction. I would say that you need to check the condition of these toys regularly as they can degrade with regular use.

        *********************************************************
The catnip balls were lots of fun and cheap to buy. In the end they lasted at least 10 days, that worked out at under 8p per catnip ball per day, for our cats to enjoy lots of fun with them. When put that way it seem we got some value money, so the catnip balls get a 3 star rating and are recommended as a short term cats toy.
