~The Kong Kickeroo~
Amongst the wide range of cat toys I have bought the Kong Kickeroo toy for cats has been one of the more successful plush type toys that I have bought. The Kickeroo comes in a wide range of designs ranging from one that looks like a cute, slightly over sized mouse crossed with a squirrel, to the one I bought which has a pattern to it that reminds me of extra fluffy and velvety looking giraffe skin. For a small initial outlay at the time of purchase I have found this little cat toy has been a success with our cats, as they took to it quite quickly as soon as they were let loose with it.
The design and look of this cat toy is simple yet effective in my opinion, as even though there is no real animal type shape to the version of the toy I bought, the fact that it seems to have a light but well sized fluffy feeling main body with an extra fluffy tail attached, has made it almost irresistible to the cats at times. I feel that this toy helps put lots of natural cat type instincts to good use, as it seems to bring out rather a playful side, combined with a natural hunter instinct that all cats seem to have. Our cats have had hours of fun with this toy kicking, biting and rolling about with it, hunting it down with wild abandon and dragging it back to their lairs time and time again.
~Catnip adds to the fun~
The Kickeroo has a secret catnip kick to it when new that also seems to add to its charm and whilst this will fade over time and extended use by over eager cats, I feel it is easy enough to top that up a little with a quick spray of catnip if you have it. With some cat toys the catnip alone seems to be what excites our cats, although in this case the shape and feel of the Kickeroo is such that I feel even without the catnip, the toy is something that our cats would like. The fact that there aren't any arms or legs sewn on to this toy makes it all the more durable in my opinion, as there is nothing really to the toy that can come away during cat play time. The addition of a fluffy tail on this cat toy adds a lot to it in my opinion, as our cats love catching the tail and chasing it, whilst kicking the kickeroo in to oblivion.
~Product rating/ price~
The cost of a Kong Kickeroo is not overly high, as I paid just under £4 for one, which I feel was good value when I think about how much fun the cats have had playing with it. You can wash the Kickeroo if wanted if it requires a little freshening up, leaving it to dry off fully before spraying it with a little fresh catnip and then giving it back to its kittycat owners. The size of the Kickeroo is good, as it is not as large as an average sized cat, yet is much larger than many other cat toys are, meaning that cats do seem to treat it as a real opponent during play time (which adds to the fun). As I feel the Kickeroo is a durable cat toy that can provide hours of fun at a reasonable price my rating for this toy is 5 stars.
Summary: A fun cat toy
