If you have read my past few reviews then you will have read that many have been on products related to my cat Norman and today's is no exception. In fact I am surprised that I have not reviewed this product sooner as it is one of Norman's favourites and with it being one of Norman's favourites it makes it one of my favourite things as when he is playing on this it means that he is out of my way and not causing trouble elsewhere!
The product that I am reviewing is the Pet Planet Play Tunnel. I actually brought the product in the high street store of Wilkinson's but it is also available directly from the website www.petplannet.co.uk. I had often looked at the product when I had been in my local Wilkinson's store but when I went in and saw that it was on offer I was quick to place it in my basket. The toy will normally retail at £19.99 and I think this is one of the reasons I had not brought it before, I saw that price tag as a little bit too expensive but with the price coming down to £9.99 and loving a bargain I was more than happy with my latest purchase.
The play tunnel comes compact and squashed down so not only was it easy to carry home but it is also easy to store away at home, although Norman has become such a fan that it rarely gets put away these days! The tunnel when opened out is approximately 125cm in length and 30cm in diameter so if you are short on space then you do need to consider the size. I am lucky that I have quite a long hallway and often place it in thee, if not it is often found in my lounge. Even though the size may sound quite large, I could not really go any smaller as since we have had Norman he has grown into quite a large cat, he is not overweight buy he is just a really large cat so a smaller version could have seen him wedged!
The tunnel is quite a simple design, when you open it up by pulling one ring apart from the other, a further 5 rings will be revealed, totalling 7 rings all together and in-between each of the plastic rings is some stretchy material. It is really brightly coloured in red, yellow and blue and then you have the inside of the material that has a fleece coating so it makes it really cosy inside.
When we bring anything new into the home, Norman is always a little wary but he does love an empty cardboard box so I was hoping that the tunnel was going to have the same effect and sure enough he looked at it form afar and then had a wander over to it and rubbed his chin on it and had a good sniff. Like many things he likes to explore when he thinks nobody is watching so I went into he kitchen and watched him from the open doorways. He had a little wander in and soon backed put and this happened a couple of times so with my creative head on I rolled one of his many balls into the tunnel and he soon chased it in and the next thing you know he was in there all the time.
This all happened over a year ago and he still likes this toy. It is definitely a seasonal toy as he barely looks at it in the summer months and so I can put it away however in the winter months when he is indoors a lot more he will often go flying in towards the middle of it and in fact I think he gets himself quite comfortable in there! As the inner layer has the thicker fleece material I think he gets quite snug and after chasing his toys through there he soon has a rest and before you know it he is asleep!
I would have no hesitation in recommending this product. It really has given Norman a great deal of fun and has seen him running from one end to the other countless times! With the addition of a ball it really see him start playing with this toy tunnel as well as using it as yet another place to sleep! I think that if you can find the toy on offer you have got yourselves a great deal and even if not on offer this is still a great little toy!
5 out of 5 from me
