Pets At Home Rubber Fish Shaped Cat Feeding Mat
Advantages: stops mess, cute
Disadvantages: a bit pricey
When I had my last cat I always had a feeding mat for him as he was a really messy eater, so when I knew I was getting our new kitten I decided to pick up a feeding mat along with the dishes just in case she was going to be the same (even though the floor is laminate). I have bought all of my new kitten things from Pets At Home and thought I would get the mat from there also.
Looking at the range of mats available I was struggling to choose one, but when seeing the rubber fish shaped mat thats the one I chose for a couple of reasons. I thought that it was appealing as they are brightly coloured and a cute fish shape, but also as they are rubber so there is no risk of food being spread around the floor!
The fish shaped mat is made from a durable non slip rubber and has raised edges which means any spillages from the cat bowls will stay on the mat and not end up on your kitchen floor! Along with the raised edges, there are raised bumps on the mat which help keep the bowls in place, again minimising the area that can get food spilled on. A great thing about this mat is that it is dishwasher safe so it can be thoroughly cleaned when required, although you can wash it in the sink alternatively.
The mats are available in bright pink and blue, or a neutral cream colour and are priced at £4.99 which is quite expensive for a mat but if you have a messy cat like mine you will be glad you paid that price! The approximate size of the mat is 53cm x 36cm so its not too big that it will take up space but big enough to fit two bowls on.
My kitten, Cleo is a very messy eater just like my last cat so I am extremely glad that I purchased this mat. Initially she was a little wary of the mat, but she was like that with everything so I presume that is due to being in new surroundings but she will happily sit and eat at the mat and I can see her getting a little frustrated at times when she can't move the dish or mat!
Do I think the mat is worth £4.99? In a way I do as it has saved my floor from a lot of mess and scratches but I am sure there are other options available that are somewhat cheaper. I like how the mat is easy to clean and looks good on the floor and its great that its a fish shape! Just cool for a cat!
I give this mat four out of five Dooyoo stars!
