Advantages: Nice design. Non-slip. Easy to clean (diswasher safe). Decent size. Raised lip. OK price.

Disadvantages: None.

Harvey the Cat thinks he's a dog.....but we do everything we can to try to remind him that he's a cat(!), including ensuring that he has lots of accessories that are very cat-e-fied! He has a Pets At Home Rubber Fish Shaped Cat Feeding Mat for two reasons - principally to prevent my kitchen floor getting covered in bits of cat food and water (he is an enthusiastic eater!) and also because it's a fish and so I'm trying to remind him that cats are supposed to prefer fish to trying to chew on the dogs bones!

So, basically the Fish Shaped Cat Feeding Mat is just what it says it is, namely a mat that the cats' bowls can sit on to protect the floor from spillages, as well as preventing the bowl from sliding all over the floor. It costs just £4.99 from Pets At Home, which I feel is a decent price, although I suspect that you can buy cat feeding mats that are novelty shapes for much cheaper online - but as I am usually loyal to Pets At Home when it comes to my pets' products then I went ahead and bought it.

The mat is made in the shape of a fish and is an attractive pink colour, although there are a variety of colours to choose from. It is made entirely from non-slip rubber which means that the mat does not slide around the kitchen floor, and it also prevents the dish from sliding around when Harvey is eating from it. Around the outside of the mat there is a very small raised lip which is significant enough to prevent any spillages from running onto the floor - although there is the odd stray biscuit. The mat is a decent size, measuring 53cm x 26cm and I find it's okay for two bowls (i.e. a feeding bowl and a water bowl), but if you need more bowls out for more cats then I would suggest that you get additional mats.

Cleaning the mat is easy - and it can infact go in the dishwasher. I usually wipe it over with a cloth and wipe with disinfectant to keep it smelling clean and fresh - and I do this every 2 days or so. If I leave it longer than 2 days, the caked on bits can be a little more difficult to remove. On a few occasions, I have put it in the diswasher and the result has been fine.

Overall, I think this is a good feeding mat for cats. The only disappointment is that it really doesn't seem to have made Harvey any more convinced that he is infact a cat!

Summary: Recommended.
