“ Manufacturer: Pets At Home / Type: Cat Beds „
My version of this cat bed is slightly different from the image here, the outer side of our donut is made from black faux suede and the inner side of the donut and the actual bed part base is made of a gorgeous soft sheepskin type fabric. The bed measures 50x50cm diameter and the inner base/sleeping part measures about 30cm. This is amply enough area for my fairly large cats, and this is one sleeping space that I see both of them using from time to time (separately). They do both sleep curled up tightly in it and do almost fill it, but that just seems to make it all the more cosy. The base of the bed is very soft and squishy, but must be about 10cm thick before being laid on, so it doesn't squish down to nothing, it still gives them a nice cushion off the floor.
The underside of the bed is polyester and there is a full length zip which makes it easy to remove the cushion to wash it. I don't think the outer of my bed would stand washing because of the type of fabric, but I clean the hairs from it when it needs it, and it does still look good, having owned this for around 12 months now.
Ours is positioned next to a radiator, which is ideal as the colder weather is starting to be more prevalent. The cushioned sheepskin material means that it holds heat really well but the zip underneath would enable you to pop one of those microwaveable heat pads in there for older cats (or particularly spoilt ones - I'm saying nothing!).
The bed is on sale at Pets At Home for £15, which is pricey, but I think a suitable price for what is a high quality product.
Pets at Home Safari Donut Cat Bed
As an owner of 3 cats I often visit Pets at Home. I purchased this cat bed about 6 months ago from my local Pets at Home store. This cat bed can also be purchased from the Pets at Home online store. The bed costs £6, if you have the item delivered to your home the delivery charge is £2.95.
The Cat Bed:
This cat bed is oval in shape. It measures H 52 x W 43 x D 45cm. The bed is made from animal print plush fake fur type fabric, mainly polyester. The bed has a removable reversible cushion and every part of the cat bed is both machine washable and hand washable. The cat bed is almost flat with a slightly raised edge. The cat bed is suitable for kittens, cats and even small dogs.
I thought my cat Poppy would like this bed. She hates igloo type cat beds and won't use them at all. Her sister Petal loves her igloo and uses it all the time. My other cat Ruby likes to keep her options open and sleeps between our bed and her cat igloo.
The bed is made of very soft fabric, the fabric is lovely to touch and with the Safari animal print on the fabric it makes this cat bed look very inviting to sleep in.
I place the bed on the floor in the sitting room away from any draughts and wait to see what Poppy thinks of it. Poppy goes over to the bed, well it's new and she is quite a nosey cat. She sniffs the bed, sits in it for a moment and then walks away. She then looks at me with her big amber eyes as if to say you don't expect me to sleep in there, do you?
My other two girls also have a look at the new bed. Petal is as I said before an igloo girl so this bed is not for her and Ruby prefers human beds.
I have had this cat bed for months now and my 3 cats are just not into it. I have never managed to get any of them to sleep in it so I will wash the bed and donate it to Cats Protection.
Firstly this bed is very cheap at £6. The bed is a good size and large enough for even a very big cat. The bed is made from really pretty looking and very soft fabric. The fabric is a good colour that will not get dirty easily and it looks like it will wear well.
The bed has a removable reversible cushion; this is a good aspect of the bed because you can regularly wash the cushion without having to wash the whole bed.
I personally think that this bed has been designed as more of a cat cushion. When I think of a cat bed I expect it to have sides and this cat bed does not. It has a ridged rim to it but the rim is only about 1.5 inches high. The cushion is made of nice fabric but it's not overly padded and the padding in the cushion is quite lightweight and moves about a bit. It's probably not really very comfortable for a full grown cat. For a full grown cat to be comfortable in this bed I think the cushion would need to have double the amount of padding it has now.
If your cat does not like igloo type beds then your cat might like this type of cat bed. I just feel that this bed could do with being a bit more substantial, with better padding.
A kitten would probably like this bed as the padding in the cushion would be comfortable enough to hold a light kitten.
My cats are all quite well built, but not fat! Even when I put this cat bed at the bottom of our king size bed my cats still would not use it. Perhaps my cats are just a bit too fussy!
All in all if your cat likes type of bed then this bed is a bargain at £6. As I said before I think it would be great for a new kitten. The bed looks good and is soft to touch, just a shame about the padding!
Although my cats don't like this bed I am still going to give it 3 stars. All cats and kittens should have a cosy cat bed and it's a good price.
This cat bed is gorgeous, it's so soft and my kitten Millie loves it. We wanted to buy something for Millie to encourage her to stop sleeping on our bed and this did the trick!
I have this product in black which looks stylish and blends in with our home décor. The only disadvantage is that it is quite expensive, however many others on the market are the same price or higher and in my opinion these one is of excellent quality. Another added bonus is that the cushion is removable which makes it easier to but in the wash (I have put mine in the washing machine and it washed great!) or hoover off any cat hair. The outer part can also be washed in the washing machine. It's also a decent size which means that as Millie grows older and gets much bigger, she will continue to be able to sleep in it comfortably.
From the first night we got Layla she has always slept upstairs with us whether it be on the landing, the spare bed or even our bed so we thought it would be nice if she had a place of her own to sleep in but that was in our bedroom so off we went on another trip to Pets At Home. WE came across a Safari Donut Cat Bed, it felt so soft and look so comfortable we decided to give it a try, plus they had it in pink.
The Donut Cat Bed comes in 2 parts, the outer edges of the bed and the cushion which sits inside this. Both parts are made from a plush fabric which is very soft to touch, the cushion in the centre is filled with extremely soft stuffing making it very comfortable for your cat to sleep on, it is also reversible.
The edges of the Bed are high enough to keep your cat/ kitten feeling safe and secure but are also low enough for them to see everything that is happening around them. The picture shows the Donut Cat Bed in brown shades, however the one be bought Layla was pink, mainly as she is a little girl and our bedroom is also pink therefore it fitted in with the colour scheme.
Layla is a small cat therefore did not need a huge bed to sleep in, we also wanted one small enough to fit in the corner of our bedroom so that it would not get in the way, the Donut Bed was the perfect size measuring at height 50cm, width 40cm and depth 8cm, it was the perfect size for our room and also gave Layla enough room as she grew. The Donut Cat Bed was also advertised as being suitable for small dog, however we have not told Layla that!!!!
The bed did not come in any packaging and was already assembled when we bought it. On first impressions we were very impressed, it look and felt very sturdy, and whilst the fabric was very soft it also looked durable. At first Layla was not too sure about her new bed, it took her a few days to get use to going in it but she soon got the hang of it and would spend every night in there, she would follow us up to bed and get straight in her own bed for a wash and to curl up and go to sleep.
We have had the Donut Bed for about a year now and so far have had no problems with it, it has lasted extremely well and has proved to be very hard wearing. Another advantage of the Donut Bed is that all parts of it are machine washable which for us is handy as Layla frequently comes in with muddy paws, therefore any marks you cat gets one the bed can either be sponged off by hand or should your cat be very messy the whole thing can be washed in the washing machine.
Layla seemed to go off using her bed in the summer, probably because she has a lot of fur for a little cat and I think the Donut bed was a bit too warm for her. The bed would be perfect for any cat, especially during the winter months, the sides are slightly padded as well as the cushion they lay on which means it would keep the heat in keeping you kitty warm and cosy.
The Donut Cat Bed cost us £11.99 from Pets at Home which I think is very reasonably due to the quality and durability of the product, the bed should last Layla for many years to come.
Overall we were very pleased with the Donut Cat bed, it has proved a success, its is reasonably priced, long lasting, hard wearing and washable, as well as being a cosy place for you cat to curl up, I honestly can say that I cannot think of any disadvantages of this product.
A few weeks ago when I found out I was going to be getting a kitten, I decided to go to Pet At Home and stock up on all the bits I was going to need as I got rid of everything I had when my last cat had to be put to sleep. I got the usual kitten starter kits which included litter tray, bowls and other such items but I wanted a really nice funky cat bed. Previously I had a dustbin shaped cat bed - which was fab!
After looking at the range of beds available I chose the Safari Donut Cat Bed for several reasons. The main reason being that it was a lovely pink colour so it stood out on the shelf more than the others and I love pink! (Once I knew the kitten was female it gave me the green light to get pink things for her!) The bed was just £11.99 which I thought was a great price compared to other beds I had seen. The bed does also come in a brown colour which is much more neutral than a pastel pink!!
The bed is a doughtnut shape and is made from a soft plush fabric which really is so soft and cosy for the cat. In the centre of the doughnut there is a removeable padded cushion which really does provide comfort for your cat as it is a lovely soft squishy cushion. It can removed for washing, or also you can put a small fleecy blanket in for them to sit on - my kitten loves this as it seems like she feels kind of sheltered by the sides when the cushion is removed. The cushion is has a leopard print design and I think that looks great against the solid colour of the doughnut itself.
As Cleo is only ten weeks old she is still very tiny so she does look a bit lost on this cat bed but of course she will grow into it more. It did take quite a few days for her to go onto the bed, she seemed very wary of it initially but I put this down to her being moved to a whole new environment and seeing so many new things it must have been a bit scary for her. When she does go on the bed she will nuzzle up in it like she would with her mum and then settle down to sleep purring. There's so much space she can have a really good stretch on it too.
The approximate dimensions of the Safari Donut bed are: 50cm x 40cm x 8cm so it isn't too large but it does take up a little space in my living room! Of course with it being such a lightweight bed it can be moved from room to room if you wish. The bed is completely washable although I haven't had to wash it as yet with only having it for a few weeks.
I would definately recommend this lovely soft cat bed, Cleo looks so comfortable when she is on there and the fabric makes it nice and warm for her too. My daughter calls the bed a princess bed for the kitten as it is so girly and pink!! For £11.99 I feel like I have got a bit of a bargain really and wouldn't hesitate to buy another for another room!
I give the Safari Donut Cat Bed the full five out of five Dooyoo stars!
Thank you for reading my review :)
