Advantages: Easy to clean, lipped edge keeps food in, pretty design.

Disadvantages: None really.

We have had our cat for around six months now and in this short space of time it's fair to say that she has become a real part of our family. I have even grown to like her quite a lot now and thoroughly enjoy finding ways to waste money and things to buy to ensure her little accessories blend in to our home life quite pleasantly. I recently purchased a mat for her food bowls to sit on to ensure she wasn't damaging the floors and to make it nice and easy to clean up any spills or mess from her feeding times with minimal effort on my part. This food bowl is actually designed, by Pets At Home, to coordinate with the feeding mat. While I only paid around £1 for the feeding mat in a sale a few months back I decided to purchase this matching bowl for around £5, however, when looking online now I can not see either the melamine mat or this bowl so perhaps they have now been discontinued.

This food bowl is ceramic so is a nice smooth surface with food and there are no worries that my cat may scratch or harm herself when pushing her nose around the edges of this bowl. There is a lip along the top of the bowl to ensure that food doesn't just get pushed out and it's very rare for any spillages to happen from this bowl. The bowl is black and it says 'THE BOSS' on it with a paw print inside the bowl also which, obviously, is usually obscured from view by wet food and biscuits (in our case anyway!). The colours of the bowl are quite nice and this blends in well with the colour scheme we have in our kitchen/living room which is where the food bowls are located. Our cat seems to like the design of this bowl and is just as happy eating her food from this as she was from the stainless steel ones that we were using in the past, the only downside for us being that she can fit her face and whiskers in to this larger bowl which sometimes results in her having a slightly messy face/whiskers. My cat does not seem to fazed by this and just promptly cleans herself, sometimes in her water bowl it would seem, whether this is accidental or planned I have no idea.

The design of the bowl is easy to clean and I usually just wipe any debris in to the bin then clean this with washing up liquid before drying with paper towels and filling back up again for her. The bowl is well designed for cleaning with drainage on the underneath to ensure it doesn't hold lots of water. There is a good amount of weight to this bowl to ensure that it does not move around when my cat is trying to eat her food, usually quite aggressively too! I have been very pleased with the design and usage that we have received our of this product. With it being washed on a regular basis it's still not become chipped or damaged, the design has not faded after several months of continuous use and our cat is still more than happy to eat her food out of the bowl so I would say that it's an all round winner! If you are in the market then I would recommend this bowl or a similar one as this one is manufactured by Mason Cash and you can buy these in plain or many other different designs.

Summary: A decent food bowl produced by Mason Cash for Pets At Home.
