“ Manufacturer: Pets at Home / Type: Cat Bowls & Feeders - Plastic Mat „
My sister- in- law works at Pets at Home and regularly buys us bits and pieces which are in the sale or on offer etc for our Border Terrier, Bobby. The mat is usually £1.99 but we got this as a freebie as Pets at Home were trying to clear some stock and had them on some sort of offer, I think it was buy two products get one free.
The mat is black in colour with lots of white footprints dotted all over it, with the slogan "The Boss" also in white. This is perfect for us as Bobby really is the boss in our house. The mat is about 30cm by 45 cm and is just the right size really; it easily fits both a water bowl and food bowl. Although I will say that Bobby's only a small dog and therefore has smallish bowls, some bigger dogs bowls probably wouldn't fit onto the mat.
In use, it does its job quite well, it stops the kitchen floor getting messy and the mat is very easy to clean, all it needs is a quick wipe over with a wet cloth and a bit of fairy liquid. One problem I've found when using though as that the mat does tend to slip a little bit, especially as my dog's a fast eater he often ends up chasing his mat and bowl about a bit. This is easily solves though, I stuck a few stickers on the bottom, the ones for stopping rugs slipping on laminate flooring and this worked really well.
However, another problem arose on a particularly hot day when Bobby decided to have a very big and very quick drink of water. It went everywhere, and didn't just stay on the mat. Water got under the mat and made it even more slippery, Bobby ran into the kitchen and over the mat and had a very confused look on his face and he slid across the floor. Obviously if a person did this it would be even worse, especially if it was a child, so if your dog's a messy drinker it might be worth popping some kitchen towel underneath, which does defeat the object a bit.
Although the mat is well designed, it's the style over substance of the doggy world. The slogan is great, it looks good and gets a smile but in use, it's not that great. The mat is more of a novelty item, which I don't mind for the low price, I'd pay more if it was a bit less flimsy and slippery.
I got this non-slip feeding mat over the weekend for my boyfriends mums' cat, George - a gorgeous long haired persian cat. This was an impulse buy, mainly because I had purchased the matching bowl so thought the mat would be handy to have and I thought the matching theme was cute! This mat was also very reasonably priced at £1.99. I feel for a pets at home product this is a very affordable and fair price as their items are almost always brilliant quality and they are a well known, trusted brand.
The design of the mat is quite simple really, and it has the same colour theme as the 'The Boss' matching bowl making it clear that it's part of the 'The Boss' range. It's black with white writing in the middle saying 'the boss' in large, bold white font, and all over the mat is white paw prints which are all medium sized. On the right hand corner of the mat is a larger paw print.
It's very cute, versatile due to the simple and versatile colour scheme and although black is a more dominant colour i'd say it's unisex because of the cute paw print detailing. I am not entirely sure of what material the mat is, but it's a lino type material and is smooth and lightweight. Due to the material, it can be wiped down easily and is waterproof. It's not very thick (1cm) but there is no downsides to this. The mat is large enough for 'The Boss' ceramic bowl aswell as George's 2 water bowl (stainless steel, average size).
It's very sturdy and no matter how many times George attempts to drag it along the floor, his determined attempts are unsuccesful; the mat 'grips' the floor due to the material. The material is also easily wipeable and is waterproof which is handy in the case of spills. George eats very messily and sometimes picks out bits of food and spits them out, so in the case of this mat it is quick and easy to wipe up any stray bits of food - this can be done with either a damp cloth or simply a bit of tissue. The bowl doesn't slip around or even budge on the mat which keeps George in one place while eating.
The mat is very lightweight and for this reason it's not the kind of mat that I would reccomend using if you have an outdoor cat, as it will more than likely blow away unless weighed down. Overall it's an effiecent, stylish and hygienic mat and for £1.99 i would reccomend it!
Review originally written on 26/06/11 for Dooyoo - as far as I know my ex boyfriend's mum still has this in her kitchen & I have since bought some similar ones for my dogs which are equally as good quality!
As we have a kitten now she has steadfastly become a little regular part of the family and is someone that we seem to be lavishing with more and more gifts recently. After purchasing her the 'The Boss' food bowl from Pets At Home we ended up buying her this feeding mat, reduced in price, for just £1.00. The dimensions of this mat are 31.5cm x 43cm x 0.1cm giving a large enough area for us to have two stainless steel bowls and a large mason cash bowl for water as well as extra space for placing down treats or anything else that we want to feed the cat.
This mat is very spacious and is fantastic for the small price that we paid. The thickness is small but it's more than ample for the purpose of this mat. The mat is perfect as any spillages can just be wiped off without any damage occurring to the mat. The mat is black with lots of paw prints everywhere and 'THE BOSS' on it in large letters. This mat is coordinating with the 'THE BOSS' feeding bowl that we purchased from Pets At Home also and they look very good together and I love that the colours match the area of our home where her bowls are located and it makes every about it quite inoffensive and well blended. This mat does not seem to shift around regardless of how energetic our kitten is but it's easy enough for me to use my foot to move this out of the way if I am hoovering and want to get any stray crumbs.
This mat is perfect for keeping all of your cats food and drink equipment in one area and keeping your floors protected and mess free. This has worked very well for us so far and with it already being used for quite a few months it shows no sign of wear and I am sure it will continue to last us for a considerable amount of time yet. This has been soaked once or two in spilt water (before we swapped our kitten to a heavier bowl) with no adverse effects at all which is more than can be said of our coffee table!
His royal highness (our cat) is a typically messy eater where he seems quite content to paw his food out of the bowl only to eat it from the counter top. Whilst he may appreciate it (and possibly decreed that we should all be following his royal example), it does make the counter top very messy, especially as the food dries and grinds in.
So when I saw this mat in Pets at Home with the words 'The Boss' emblazoned across the middle, I knew that it would be ideal for him. It cost me less than £2, so you could consider it to be an absolute bargain. Size wise it is 43 cm by 31.5 cm and is about 1 mm thick.
Basically it is a plastic wipe clean place matt which will accommodate both a feeding bowl and a water bowl for his highness. It is jet black with a series of random paw prints across it and the words 'The Boss' in the middle (just in case anyone should wonder who's feeding area it is!!). So it is quite striking and does look quite stylish wherever you decide to put it and use it. It also seems to stay put on the counter well when the dishes are on it, which means that my cat will not easily be able to shove it off the counter onto the dogs below (it's an ongoing animal target practice thing in our house!)
The wipe clean element is also very useful when he does his usual messy eating routine because it normally all ends up on the mat and not on the counter. A quick wipe with a damp cloth is all it really needs to bring it back to 'as new' condition, but I've also run this matt through the dishwasher a few times to give it a really good clean, and I've never had any problems with it where it still retains its' flat shape and doesn't really warp up at the edges following such a heat treatment.
In summary then, this is a perfect item to keep you animals banquet area clean and tidy. My cat highly recommends it.

Most people who read my reviews will know im a big fan of Pets at Home. On a recent shopping trip i bought my dogs The Boss pet feeding mat.
It cost £1.99 from pets at home, can also be bought on from there website www.petsathome.co.uk. They charge £2.95 to £7.95 depending on the weight of order for standard delivery. You can also reserve online and collect in shop which can be a handy feature.
The feeding mat is for either cats or dogs. I bought this for my jack russell molly. It caught my eye as it has a bold print and has the slogan The Boss on it. This suits my jack russell as she is a bit dominant or as i like to call it "little dog syndrome".
The mat is plastic and mainly black in colour with 14 small paw prints and 1 large paw print in white with the boss slogan. As its plastic it is easy cleaned. I use hot soapy water and it works well.
The mat is a good size can fit her dinner bowl and water bowl on neatly. My dog is a messy wee pup at dinner time so its made a difference and saves the laminate flooring from mess. Sizes 0.1 x 31.5 x 43 cm
My only niggle with the mat is that it slides about the floor when my dog is eating but its not a big issue. I am very pleased with the mat, it was so cheap and effective. I still smile everytime i pass the mat as its so suited to molly.
I noticed that you can buy the matching bowls for the mat so that will be my next buy.
I give it 5 dooyoo stars.
All our animals have feeding mats underneath their bowls because they are absolute slobs when it comes to eating. If they were humans in a restaurant they would be thrown out, seriously! Our German Shepherd's feeding mat has been changed a few times more due to the fact that I like changing them when I see different designs but when I came across this feeding mat at Pets At Home it was an absolute must have. It cost £1.99 which I thought was a pretty good price seeing as that is how much a feeding mat usually costs anyway.
The Boss feeding mat is for both cats and dogs but our German Shepherd is clearly the boss of our house so it suits him perfectly. The mat is pleasing to the eye. It is mainly black with "THE BOSS" written in bold letters in the middle in white with little paw prints going around it it. It reminds me of something like the mafia and makes me think of Ben as a mafia boss! It is finished off with a glossy finish which is a wipe clean material. It is a nice sized mat and is pretty large. If I am honest I do think cat bowls would be a little lost on this mat as it is that big. It is much better suited to dogs bowls in my opinion. Its dimensions are 0.1 x 31.5 x 43cm.
The mat is really nice and seeing as Ben has non tip bowls it holds the bowls really well. The mat is made to a high quality and looks as though it will be long lasting. Ben still manages to eat his food outside of his bowl but has been keeping it on the mat rather than on my laminate flooring. It is very easy to clean - all it needs is a damp cloth and a little anti-bacterial spray.
Highly recommended for a nice stylish and fun mat which is nice and cheap too.
As I think all of you must know by now, when we moved into our cottage, a stray cat came and adopted us and we called him Mew because he kept meowing at us until we agreed to let him move in!
Mew has his own room on the side of the house - and, no, we didn't build it for him before you ask! It is a small sun room that was attached to the house when we bought it and it is ideal for Mew. He has a cupboard in there with all his food, treats and litter in it, a box turned on its side with soft cushions in it for sleeping and his food, water and litter tray. The door to the garden has a cat flap in it for him and we can shut and lock the door into the kitchen for security and also so that he can't bring anything in which might scurry about!
When he first adopted us we gave him his food and water in a blue plastic feeding tray which we bought from Asda - in fact I have recently written a review about it. He used to be put in his room at night to sleep (yes, he now sleeps on the bed! LOL!) and each morning there was water all over the floor and not in his feeding tray.
We tried numerous different bowls but the same thing happened each night. Luckily being the sun room it has a Perspex roof so it gets warm during the day and the carpet would dry out quite quickly. Incidentally we have now solved the problem by putting his water in one of those trays that you put under a plant pot.
Whilst we were trying to solve the problem we decided to buy him a waterproof feeding mat on which we could put his bowl of water to try and minimise the problem. We headed to Pets at Home to see what they had got.
As soon as we saw this one we knew it had to be for Mew - it had The Boss written on it and as anyone who has a cat will know he is very much the boss of the house!
The feeding mat is made from wipe clean black plastic and has little white paw prints on it and, as I said, the words 'THE BOSS' written in capital letters across the middle. It measures 43cm by 31.5cm and is ideal for either cats or dogs. It means that any spills can be easily wiped away rather than staining or wetting the floor.
It currently costs just £1.99 for the feeding mat and there is a ceramic feeding bowl to match for £4.99.
We never did find out what he was doing during the night that meant his water was everywhere the following morning but at least this feeding mat helped us to keep the carpet drier than it might have been whilst we found a suitable drinking dish for him.
Black 'The Boss' Plastic Feeding Mat for Cats and Dogs by Pets at Home
My husband returned home one day after work with this feeding mat after yet another shopping trip to Pet's At Home, my puppy is trying out for the title of most spoilt puppy in the UK. Up until now we had just been placing his bowls on the kitchen floor where we have stone tiles, it hadn't even crossed my mind that we should get a feeding mat to put his bowls on. It does have some benefits, it is easier to clean after dinner, it helps to keep my floor looking less messy and it does mean that if he spills some food it goes onto the mat rather than the floor, which is a bit more hygienic. However, I'm not overly concerned at his hygiene levels when he'll happily lick dirt off the garden path, I at least hope my kitchen floor is somewhat cleaner than that.
The mat really is nothing special, it is a plastic covering with 'The Boss' written in the centre and the manufactures MC logo on the bottom right. It does have a rather nice paw print design over a black background. Overall, I don't particularly like this mat, it isn't the most attractive and I think that I will be on the lookout for a nicer replacement.
This is rather cheap to buy if you like the look of it, we bought ours from Pet's At Home for a reasonable £1.99.
The mat is easy to clean but it does show wear and tear very easily. The black design is broken with an almost crack like design in the paint where it has been bent for cleaning or drying purposes, or just general scratches from his bowls being pushed around.
This is an ok mat and it does an ok job for the price, personally it wouldn't have been a design that I would have chosen and I think my hubby picked it up as a bit of a joke. I think this deserves a pretty average three out of five stars.
Ooh how exciting...... I made a product suggestion for this as our little Boss cat has the mat and the matching bowl by Mason Cash and it didn't appear as an agreed item. As sometimes the reasons why things don't get added are not made clear I just typed in the words The Boss Plastic Feeding Mat and way hay, its already listed here.
So I am now able to give you an opinion on our 'The Boss' Plastic Feeding Mat, which looks rather fab with his kitty cat highnesses matching 'The Boss' feeding bowl sat on top. This little cats feeding mat is very cheap to buy, easy to care for and protects your flooring from spills. We rather like it and our cat seems to approve too.
If you are interested in buying your kitty a funky The Boss Plastic Feeding Mat like ours, then you will be pleased to know that they are very cheap to buy. We paid just £1.99 for our mat and it was bought as it was a purrfect match for the feeding bowl we bought to go with it. I do think it would go with a number of other coloured cats feeding bowls too and silver or red might really suit it.
The details on the mat are really nice and match the bowl well. There are 15 paw prints on the mat with another larger paw print to one side which has the Mason Cash name and initials MC inside it. The rest of the mat is in a deep dark jet shade that matches the bowl nicely. The whole thing is finished off by the words 'The Boss' set into the centre of the mat in a very imposing way.
Our The Boss Plastic Feeding Mat is made from a durable and easy care plastic material that can be wiped clean or fully washed as needed. Its around 31cms by 43cms is size and is more than big enough to sit comfortably under our cats bowl protecting the floor from food spills.
As the main body of the mat is a cool jet back it does look very smart and doesn't show dirt or grime too much. We always make sure to clean it after use with a light disinfectant wipe over, or a mix of warm soapy water if washing it fully. The mat does have a certain amount of flex to it and is very slim and light to handle, so can slip at times when a full bowl is not sat on it, but thats the only downside of any note.
Over all we have been very pleased with our The Boss Plastic Feeding Mat, its a great compliment to the matching feeding bowl that works well. As a funky product that can do a good job of protecting the floor from knocks and spills the mat gets a 4 star rating, losing just 1 star as it can slide about sometimes.
