“ Brand: Sanicat / Type: Cat Litter & Litter Boxes „
After purchasing various cat litters for my two black and white terrors, this one proved to be their favorite out of every brand and type we tried them on. The litter itself is similar to shingle on the beach - fine grains and little to no dust when you pour it into the litter tray, and it has an attractive pink colour with a light aloe vera scent. It does the job and absorbs urine well and seems to absorb the smell of cat poo too! On top of that, it's an affordable price (£1.99 at our local Wilkinsons!). The packaging is simple enough, an attractive and professional design. It comes with carry handles, and for a 4 litre bag it's not as heavy as you'd expect it to be.
So long as you scoop solid waste daily, and remember to give the litter a stir so it dries out and you'll find that it lasts a lot longer than expected.
One thing with my kitten Myrtle I get through an awful lot of is cat litter. I think I have in the past 7 ish months used up tons of the stuff and from different brands and found alot of them to be quite frankly appalling!
My Myrtle is a very fussy kitty and although for various reasons I don't really like cheap or economy cat litter its one I try to buy the most because once shes used it she really doesn't like to reuse it even though I get rid of the damp patches and the poop. I did wonder if it really was the smell of it putting her off reusing it so when I was in my local Tesco store and I saw this one boasting Alow Vera air freshener within it and being more money than I usually pay out for quite a small bag I decided to give it is a go.
The packaging of this is nice enough and the litter comes in a paper style bag with two white carry handles and the bag in colour is light and dark pink and on the front and back of the bag there is a lovely photograph of a cat on there are we are told that it is Sanicat '7 Days' Aloe Vera and that it is Non-Clumping and that it has 140% power absorption then on the side of the bag other information listed includes being shown via diagrams how to use it, that it is 4L in weight and contact details or the manufacturer are given.
The Litter Itself:
This is a very fine and not sharp pieces of gravel which isn't too dusty and of course you use it in a litter tray or a cat loo in the usual way. It does have a very nice and light natural smell of Aloe Vera to it which isn't in your face or sickly or anything adverse at all and it looks nice too being a light pink and white coloured cat litter which once used and wet goes to dark pink in colour but stays firm so its easy to remove. I like this one as it really isn't very dusty which means less mess and me less choking when dealing with it.
I do the odd spot cleaning of the poop daily but don't need to worry so much about the wee because the cat litter absorbs it well so again if I want to remove the wet clumps I can with ease and I find that I only have to now change Myrtles litter tray properly every 3 days which is great for me as it is never going to be a favourite job of mine. The Aloe Vera this contains really does disguise nasty niffs and Myrtle seems so much happier in herself since I have changed to this one.
I think this is a great value cat litter at about £2.29 a bag. The bag itself doesn't look that huge but I don't need to use so much of it and it lasts longer than ones I have bought a lot bigger than this in the past. Its a great buy and one I shall be sticking to for the foreseeable future as it makes my life and routine with Myrtle so much easier!
Available in all good supermarkets and pet shops etc.
Most cat owners will use cat litter. It is an essential purchase if your fluffbaby has a toilet inside. Any cat owners will know that there is an absolute overload of different kinds of cat litter with all sorts of varieties available including wood based, clay, clumping, non-clumping and crystal.
We were using the crystal kind with Duke as it claims to reduce odour etc and it should last longer in the tray. However, at the time of his last toilet problem (he has a lot) he didn't seem to be comfortable on the crystals. I don't know whether it was sore on his paws or too big but when I ordered his new litter I decided to opt for something different.
He had used sanicat before but a different version. He had got on well with it so I had no qualms about purchasing the brand again. This time I opted for the aloe vera variety because it claimed to last for up to 7 days, release a nice aroma and it was very good value at £9.99 for 5 bags of 4 litres (or 4 bags of 5 litres, can't remember which!) Either way I got 20 litres making it 50p a litre which is very good value for money.
The packaging is exactly the same as shown above with pink branding. The bags are made of strong paper which I much prefer to the plastic bags as they are stronger. To open I simply tore a hole in the top and poured the litter into Dukes trays.
The litter is like a very fine gravel. It is a pale pink in colour and the pieces are small and smooth. There is a slight aroma of a clean sort of smell with hints of aloe vera and baby powder. Duke has 2 small trays and each bag would fill the equivalent of 3 trays. I imagine larger trays would be able to be filled twice so the bag does last a good amount of time.
Duke adapted to the litter with ease and there were no cases of him being wary to use it.
The litter handles liquids at an average rate. I found that the litter would clump but the second you went to pick it up it would all disintegrate to tiny bits and go back into the tray therefore meaning that more often than not it was a case of raking over the litter to try and freshen it up. The scent was gone but the litter looked dirty and wet.
The litter dealt with solids better than liquids. It coats the item and then it is easy to collect and dispose of! It gets rid of all odours and Duke has often gone in the tray and I haven't noticed until later which was unheard of before.
The litter claims to last for 7 days but after 24 hours it is beginning to look dirty and Duke is getting less keen on going in so sadly we have to change this every couple of days. I have left it longer initially but as Duke does suffer with various things I prefer it to be clean for him. I would say the maximum time I have left this was 3 days.
The litter makes a lot of mess out of the tray sadly and because the pieces are so small it gets everywhere!
This litter is good. It hides smells and it coats solids well but I found its longevity to be far from 7 days. I may buy this again because it was such a reasonable price and it performs ok. However, I have just ordered a different brand so I won't be rushing out to get more.
Sanicat Aloe Vera 7 Days non-clumping cat litter a natural reliable product for adult cats and kittens with powerful absorbency and fresh aloe vera scent.
