Trixie Cat Collar
Advantages: Nice looking, adjustable
It is a must in this country for your dog to be properly tagged and have identification on his/her collar at all times which is what we have for our dog Eddie. As far as I know its not a requirement for cats to have a collar with identification but we still have a collar for Whizz as I think its safer this way, especially if she goes missing. You can attach a little name tag to a collar and have your phone number on it or contact details so if your cat does goes missing and someone finds it they can contact you. At Pets at Home they have a cool machine where you get to pick your own little tag and can personalise it whilst the machine etches out the details in the metal. We have a bone for Eddie and just got a little circle disc for Whizz for her collar.
This cat collar from Trixie is cute looking and cute functional. We generally have a red one as Whizz is a girl although I think she would have liked any colour. They do come in a number of colours which is nice as it gives you some choice. The collar is material of a braided material and looks quite nice. What i like about it is that it fits around the neck nicely and does not look uncomfortable like a leather collar on a cat does. Also it does not rub like I'm sure a leather collar would too. I think leather collars look nicer and more stylish but with a cat I think its all about comfort. On the material there is a little design which features shilouettes of cats in white.
The collar is adjustable which is great. She has pretty much worn these collars since she was a kitten. We have gone through a few as I find if you have an outdoor cat they do get rather grubby and to me it is pointless to wash one, we just buy her a new one when it starts to get a bit tatty looking. They only cost about £2 so its not really expensive to do this. You just adjust it like you would a strap on a pushchair or backpack, and then this pretty much stays put in the position where you want it. I tend to make sure I can put two fingers in the collar so its not too tight for Whizz but tight enough that it stays on and does not annoy her. When she was a kitten and grew the collar was great because we could move the size with her but now it stays at the same size all the time as she is grown up.
To attach the collar you just clip each side into each other. This clip will stay put but if for example your cat does happen to catch themselves on something the collar will pull apart which is great as it means it will not strangle the cat. This obviously happened to Whizz once as I came home and her collar was hanging on my gate outside the house with no cat attached thank goodness so it obviously works.
The collar does have a bell attached but this is soooo annoying that we take it off. In the middle of the night when my cat is jumping on my bed I do not need to be woken up to the sound of a bell ringing!!
A good cat collar.
