A nice little buy that doesn't break the bank

One of my favourite things to do is spend my money on my lovely 9 month old kitten Myrtle Rose. I never usually leave the house without returning back with something for her but I'm all for my girl and I feel animals should be spoilt....that's why I wanted her in the first place! Myrtle is a house kitten and at the moment with moving from my old flat and then to moving here where I am now with my family to waiting to move into our new place with our two other family members Englebert and Winfred (our hamsters) her life I think has been rather stressful! So when I was in Wilkinson's shopping recently and saw this fishing rod dangling toy costing £1.75 I treated her to it not that my mum was best pleased at Myrtle getting yet more toys lol This comes in various designs so I gather however there was only one design in store when I chose and bought Myrtles and it came in a hanging see through pack with a piece of cardboard to the top of it stapled on which was easily removed and simply told us what it was and who it was for and contact details for Wilkinson's were given on the other side of it. The Toy Itself: What you get is a long thin plastic piece designed to look like a fishing rod really. It is slim and bendy and flexible and to the end of it there is a small hole so you could hang it if you wanted to then the dangling part is made of thin but tough cord which is red and of good length and to the bottom of ours we have a soft largish multicoloured bird in blues and reds with a bell near its beak and feathers in yellow as a tail. This toy Myrtle really does like but then shes always had and has always appreciated me sitting with her and getting her to jump and try grab the dangling toy but when shes tired and lying down I will waft that around her body with her gently grabbing at it and getting involved. This for me is lightweight and of good size, flexible so I have to be careful not to let her grab it, let go and it whacks me in the face which believe me both me and my mother have already done though luckily providing you only do that with the bird part it doesn't actually hurt cos its soft and cushioned! I find the handle sturdy so I'm in control of the game and Myrtle loves the jingly bell and especially the feathers that although she grabs then the bird hasn't shredded any of those as yet! This is a great quality and an interesting toy for Myrty and its great for really wearing her out with and I hold her interest for ages with it too. A great buy for us, nice bright and colourful and well made and we have suffered with no adverse issues with this at all! Only available from Wilkinsons.

        My kittens love it!

Last week, I 'adopted' two little kittens. Whilst I already have four cats (outside ones), I decided to buy some new toys for the kittens. One of the toys which I chose is this Play Cat Fishing Rod which I bought from Wilko's for around £1.89. The toy consists of a long, plastic handle (the rode) and on the end is some string and then a 'toy teddy' with a bell, which dangles . The idea of the toy is that you are to hold it (you can do this whilst sitting comfortable on your sofa) above the cat and just let the toy swing around, teasing the cat who will jump up and try hitting it with it's paw. My cats in the past have had this toy although it 'disappeared', so I bought a new one. My kittens love this toy and go nuts chasing it about (my older cats used to love playing with their old one too) and jumping up trying to catch the toy teddy. They never get tired of it; I actually find this toy quite entertaining, especially when my kittens are in really playful moods. I have noticed that the string comes off the 'rod' if the kittens are too rough with it - this has only happened a couple of times and you can easily tie it back on. When my bigger cats used to play with it, they were forever pulling the string off. All in all, this is a great toy for both kittens and adult cats; it's great for letting them practise their all-important hunting skills. I think that this toy is an excellent invention; it provides my kittens with hours of entertainment. Thanks for reading! June 2012 Xdonzx / xd-o-n-z-x
