A good product which is useful and a toy. Hard wearing and attacks on our furniture have stopped

We have a lot of cats! And they tend to enjoy using our settee as a giant scratch post. After trying every method possible to stop them someone suggested getting some scratch toys for them to attack instead. So we now have about 6 various scratch toys for them to claw and rip to shreds including a couple of these brilliant caterpillars.

The cats love to use them for clawing and sharpening their claws. But they also love lying on them too and using them to sleep on. The main problem with that is we have Maine Coons and they just don't fit (apart from the kittens)! However they try their best even if they can only rest their heads on them. All our 12 cats love them they jump on them push them around.

The good thing is that they have been surprisingly long lasting. To be honest being made of cardboard I expected them to not last long at all. But even after relentless attacks they are holding up very well. They are also really good value, they do vary from month to month but I think this month I paid around £7 which for a toy and furniture protector which provides hours of fun is well worth it. It also comes with a little sachet of cat nip so if you find your cat is getting a bit bored then just sprinkle some on and it soon gets their interest again.

I would definitely recommend to people to give it a try, its long lasting, fun and inexpensive. The only drawback is they need to make them bigger so my big babies can stretch out! Attacks to our settee have all but stopped too so much cheaper than replacing the sofa!

      Brilliant

A while ago Zooplus were offering £10 off of any cat tree or scratching post. The code would also work even if your choice was under £10 therefore making it free! Well two of my loves are saving money and my furbabies so it was certain that Duke (as we hadn't yet welcomed Daisy into our home) would be getting something!

After browsing the site I decided I'd quite like to get him like a pad or base as he had a centre and a small pad which he seemed to be struggling to use a little bit so I thought a larger and more stable pad would be ideal.

In the end I was stuck between two choices, a cardboard scratch bed or this cardboard caterpillar. I felt more drawn to the caterpillar but I'm awful at making decisions so asked my niece to pick one and she chose this.

Its fair to say I was rather excited when the scratch pad arrived! I love the design and immediately named it Cedric! It comes complete so there is no putting anything together which is good as with things like this Duke always wants to get going. You are provided with a small tub of catnip so you can choose to use this or not. If you do decide to use it then sprinkling some on is easy and it goes down into the gaps in the cardboard easily so there is no mess.

Cedric is about 60cm long and about 25cm wide. He is slanted so at his tallest point he is around 12cm and his smallest point, his tail is about 5cm tall. He has bright coloured sections of his body and a cheeky grin! Both sides of the board are decorated the same. The top of the board is like the edges of cardboard boxes. The top is wavy and therefore provides different levels for your cat to scratch on and attach their paws to.

Well Dukes love for Cedric was pretty apparent as soon as I got him. He was scratching on it straight away and the catnip really enticed him. Even when the scent of catnip has gone he is still keen on Cedric and he uses it every day without fail. He will often use it numerous times a day. The other day we got a new sofa so the living room was turned upside down in the process and Cedric was hidden away for a couple of days. As soon as Cedric came out from hibernation Duke was straight back to his friend!

But Cedric isn't any old scratching board, oh no. Duke loves to curl up on Cedric and have a snooze! He has 2 beds but isn't interested. Cedric on the other hand is his favourite place to snooze. It has a nice firmness - its medium hardness because of the cardboard but Duke loves to snuggle on it, I think the likes the way its tilted.

Cedric has probably been with us 4 months now and he is still in full working order. There is a section which is beginning to look worn - after all, cardboard doesn't last forever, but I am surprised at how well it has lasted and I imagine we will have Cedric for many months in the future.

Daisy hasn't used Cedric much because if she goes near him she gets 'the look' from Duke. I am thinking about getting her one as she loves scratching on cardboard but I'm a bit worried Duke will claim it!

Duke loves Cedric. He is without a doubt Dukes favourite thing and he not only uses it to scratch but also to snooze and even just to sit and observe the days goings on!

Cedric is priced at £5.99 which is an absolute bargain and he is eco-friendly too. I recommend Cedric 100% and Duke recommends him 200%!
