Felix Goody Bag Seaside Mix
by SusanLesley
Over the last twelve months or so money has been tight in our house to say the least. As such the food that we have been buying for Mew has changed to a slightly cheaper version and the same applies to his treats.
Bearing this in mind I was in our local Poundland a few weeks ago and saw the Felix Goody Bags for sale at a cost ... of - you guessed it - £1 each.
There were three varieties available each containing 60g of treats:
Original - chicken, liver and turkey
Seaside - salmon, Pollock and trout
Mixed Grill - beef, chicken and salmon
I chose the Seaside pack, not because we live by the sea in Llandudno, but because Mew tends to favour food and treats flavoured with fish, particularly salmon and trout.
The pack has a bright blue top with a turquoise bottom part so it does look sort of sea coloured. At the top is the picture of Felix himself - he is a black and white cat with very manic looking eyes! If Mew looked like that I would be very worried! Along the bottom of the packet there are pictures of the various shapes that are contained in the bag - fish, stars, squares etc.
The only other thing on the front of the pack is a description of the contents together with three tick boxes advising us that the treats contain vitamins, proteins and omega 6.
On the back of the packet there is a full list of ingredients and some information about the treats promising 'enticing aromas, delicious flavours and appealing textures'.
The feeding guidelines are also given - you can give an adult cat up to 15g (about 40 pieces) per day providing that you adjust the main feeding appropriately and always have fresh water available for the cat.
Right that's all the information and the theory but the main question was - what would Mew think of them?
I opened the bag and put a few of the treats on the floor next to his feeding bowl and he was in there like a shot busily crunching his way through his new goodies. I wondered if it was because he was particularly hungry but, not so, he loves the treats from Felix Goody Bags!
I usually give him about a dozen of these at bedtime so he has something nice for supper and I must admit I don't really think about adjusting his other food at all. I don't measure it out anyway so adjusting it wouldn't really be an option.
Since buying the first packet of these treats I have bought a few more packets and Mew has now tried, and enjoyed, all three flavours.
For the price I think these are excellent value and I keep telling Mew that he is helping with the family finances by eating these cheaper treats! He is a good boy like that!
We would recommend them so, if you have a cat, give them a try - they have the Mew approval rating!! Read the complete review |

Tesco Premium Cat Crunchies
by lexicrazy
As some of you know I have a eight month old kitten called Henry and a Poodle called Daisy. Both are the world to me.
I have fed Henry on a dried complete diet since day one, as I believe it is much better for there teeth and general health. Up until recently I fed Henry on kitten food, however with him being an indoor cat I ... decided to start feed him dried food from day one.
The packaging~
Comes in a black cardboard box with a picture of a grey and white cat at the front.
This is a 500g box that contain fish shaped kibbles. They contain shrimp salmon trout and tuna It smells of fish and for some reason smells a bit cheesy too. The food is full of the essential vitamins and minerals that your cat needs in his/her daily diet. It also tells me that this food is very good for teeth and gums and general oral care of your cat.
What does Henry think~
Henry is not a fussy eater he will eat anything even the dogs dinner if I am not looking lol! He can't stand this food at all walks away as soon as I put this in his dish and it gets thrown in the bin. He much prefers Purina or Whiskas dried complete to this.
Only available from Tesco costing around 80p a box. Read the complete review |

Harringtons Complete Cat Rich in Salmon with Rice
by xxfoxyredxx
When it comes to eating my kitten Myrtle Rose has always been quite fussy. One minute she will like a certain brand and then suddenly she will turn against it but over time I have come to realise that she prefers wet kitten/cat foods and those in gravy and not in jelly, she is not a fish fan and so on......
However a while ... back she had to have her first injections and after a chat with her vet I decided that Myrtle should be on dried food as its better for your kittens/cats teeth and there is evidence to support a dried kitten/cat food diet is better to prevent diabetes in your beloved furry friend. After the appointment I tried everything that I possibly could to encourage a dried biscuit/kibble type diet but no avail and all I could get away with was a nibble or two and so then I reverted back as she went into starvation mode and I got stressed about it however from time to time I did try and tempt her with dried kitten/cat food.
One day I spotted this Harringtons complete cat food in my local Poundland store of course costing a pound and decided it had to be worth a go at that price for a 500g box and low and behold guess what......? I was right these have gone down a storm with my little girl!
The Packaging:
This complete cat food comes in a peach and white striped box with a picture to the centre of the front of it of two cats and we are told what it is and who it is by and that it is 'Prebiotic for healthy digestion, has taurine for a healthy heart and eyes, has cranberry for urinary tract health, omega 3 for supple skin and a glossy coat' and then we are told it has 'No added wheat, dairy, soya, beef, artificial colours, flavours or preservatives' and that of course it is a complete adult cat food and that it weighs 500g. On the back of the box other information listed includes more information on the good it can do for your cat, we are told bit about the comepanyand its history, the ingredients, nutritional guide and some feeding advice is given and contact details for the manufacturer are listed. Its a nice box this with a side opening to it you can fold over and into the box as well to keep the biscuits fresh.
The Food:
Well the food is dried kibbles/biscuits and dark brown in colour and round in shape and to me smell cereal based really. They contain chicken, salmon and rice in the main along with cranberry extract and poultry fat (along with a few other bits and pieces) and my Myrtle goes mad for them believe me! My kitten is 9 months old now and been proffering adult food along time which my vet tells me is fine as she has now been neutered and for a kitten who doesn't like dried food she loves em and will even meow at the box at me to get me to give her some!
They sound crunchy and she eats a good portion of them. On the back of the box feeding advice is given as to the portion size and I give her some as a medium sized kitten around 100g a day when I weigh them out however that's a whole days portion and she wont eat them more than for one meal and so she gets one meal a day occasionally of these which is about 25g if not a bit more and I split them over a few days.
As she likes them I am also happy of course. I know these are nutritionally good, kind to teeth and not junk food for cats and so can't wait to try other flavours of them with her in the future and now we are both great fans of Harringtons!
Available in several flavours and sizes and from places like Tesco and Asda though do Google for best prices too! Read the complete review |
