Tesco Cat Sticks Treats Chicken and Liver

Tesco Cat Sticks Treats Chicken and Liver
Recently Tesco had a 3 for 2 offer on cat treats and as our ancient cat is getting thinner and thinner despite me buying her special food which the healthy fat cats are not allowed. I chose three different packs of these sticks, some catnip drops and other bits so ended up with 9 for 6 ... which made me very popular with my felines. I was quite pleased to find these on offer as they are normally £1.29 per pack of ten.
All of my cats LOVE these but I do restrict them to one each per day at the most. One of mine will actually jump up and beg when she sees these coming out of the drawer. In fact she tries, and often succeeds, in opening the cupboard door below the drawer in the kitchen where I have put these.
Each stick comes individually wrapped in tear off foil and all ten are sold as one pack with perforated division between the sticks. Each of the 10 sticks weigh 50g so in the pack in total you get 500gof meaty sticks. Once you open the individual strip pack you find a thin flexible brown softish stick. It must have some sort of coating on the outside as it doesn't really smell strong to me but it drives the cats mad.
The thing I like about these is that they have indentations along them and I can break them into small pieces so that the cats can share them. I break them up and hand them out to the three cats separately so that they don't fight over them. After breaking three sticks up and sharing them out I can't smell any meaty smell on my fingers at all which is a bonus for me. Naturally I do still wash my hands after this exercise even though there is no smell or mess obvious on the hands.
I like the fact that the sticks are individually packed and easy to separate and unwrap. The cats can obviously smell how exciting they are through the packing because initially I had them on the shelf on the kitchen side but when large fat cat brought me the entire pack into the room next door where I was sitting I thought I better store them somewhere where she couldn't help herself.
On the front of the pack is a photo of a very happy looking cat with some of the meaty sticks. These are a Tesco 'Luxury' Collection item although I can't say that the branding impressed the cats as I am sure they worked on smell alone . The pack also informs the human what flavour they are and that there are 10 of them in a pack. Information for the human includes the fact that they are vitamin enriched and contain added Taurine as well as other nutritional benefits.
I was not aware of taurine so had to investigate what this was and why it was there. It is a natural acid produced by the human body but, it can be manufactured as well. Apparently Taurine is need by all mammals but unlike most animals, cats cannot naturally make their taurine and if they don't have enough of this acid in their diets, they can suffer from severe health conditions.
It is nice to know that they are not only a treat for the cats that they go wild for but that they are actually a food supplement as well giving nutrients that cats need and might be missing in their diets.
I will continue to buy these for my cats as the ancient one needs all the help nutritionally that she can get as she looks rather skeletal now and needs lots of TLC. The other two just have them as a treat as they love them and I like to see them perform for their treats.

Tesco 10 Cat Sticks Treats Salmon And Trout
by xxfoxyredxx
When it comes to my beautiful little mate Myrtle I try to vary her diet the best I can and to give her treats that she enjoys. We do get through rather alot of them though I do try to limit them the best I can, she doesn't liken that one bit! Lol. Usually I stick to buying branded treats like Dreamies and Felix goody bags and the likes ... but if and when I can make a little saving I will try!
I bought these Salmon & Trout meaty stickys in Tesco recently when they were on offer with me being able to buy 3 packs of the ten sticks for the price of two and knowing that she has liked other flavours in these treats when I bought them for her in the past I decided that we would give them a try, though usually to be fair she isn't a fish fan.
The Packaging:
You get 10 of the sticks/treats in one pack very large pack and each stick can be ripped off the main of the packaging (there are perforations) so you can separate them and keep them individually should you want to (I do!). On the front of the packaging there is a lovely photograph of a big cat and some of the meaty sticks are depicted and we are clearly told that these are Tesco 'Luxury' Collection and what flavour they are and that there are 10 of them in a pack, that they are vitamin enriched and contain added Taurine then on the back of the packaging the ingredients and nutritional information is given as well as feeding advice (Feed as a treat lol) , we are told that the 10 sticks weigh 50g in total, there is plenty of information given in foreign languages as well (though I am not sure what languages those are!) and contact details for Tesco are clearly given towards the bottom of the pack. Nice, informative packaging this is and I do like being able to separate the sticks up so I can mix the flavours up that we have!
The Meaty Treats/Sticks:
Long and cylinder in shape these are light weight and dry to my touch and have a slight fishy smell to them if you sniff them. I like the way that I could break this up easily if I wanted to though Myrtle likes one whole and makes short work of it making no mess at all and leaving no bit uneaten.
I can't of course say what these taste like and I'm not tempting to try them but she likes them I know that much and knowing that they are vitamin enriched makes me feel better and all!
She will beg for these, does find the pack and claw it so they must be good so they get the thumbs up (paws up from Myrtle of course) from us!
Only available from Tesco stores for £1.29 for a pack of ten of the sticks though do look out as I do for them on offer which they are quite often! Read the complete review |

Tesco Cat Sticks Treats Chicken and Liver
by xxfoxyredxx
I absolutely adore my kitten Myrtle Rose and feel she is the best thing that ever happened to me so of course I spoil her the very best I can!
She loves her treats, in fact she begs me for some when she thinks that she deserves them (which is quite often lol) so although I do buy Dreamies and Felix Goody bags and the likes ... from all the well known brands I do buy the odd shops own treats for her to see if she likes them and these I bought on offer for three packs of cat stick treats for the price of two which I thought was superb value.
The Packaging:
You get 10 sticks in one big black, long pack and each stick can be ripped off the main of the packaging so you can separate them and keep them individually. On the front of the packaging there is a photograph of a cat and some of the meaty sticks and we are clearly told that these are Tesco 'Luxury' Collection and what flavour they are and that there are 10 of them in a pack, that they are vitamin enriched and contain added Taurine then on the back of the packaging the ingredients and nutritional information is given as well as feeding advice, we are told that the 10 sticks weigh 50g in total, there is plenty of information given in foreign languages as well and contact details for Tesco are clearly given. Nice, informative packaging it is.
The Meaty Sticks:
Brown in colour, dry on the outside but easy to break into pieces should you want to these are long and rather thin and cylinder in shape. I have to say Myrtle loves these and I struggle to keep her eating just the one of these occasionally. She eats one whole in a matter of seconds and they don't make a mess at all by flaking or crumbling which gets the thumbs up from me. I can't tell you what they taste like of course and neither can Myrtle sadly but recently I bought her some similar ones by a brand called Claude in the poultry variety and I noticed that she ate that but far slower than this and didn't beg for seconds as she does with these.
If Myrtle likes them that's good enough for me as they offer her good taste obviously but are purse friendly to me so we're both happy!
Only available in Tesco stores costing £1.29 for a pack of ten of them however do keep your eyes peeled for these on some kind of offer!
