“ Brand: Felix / Type: Food „
Anyone who regulary reads my reviews will I'm sure be very well aware that I own a beautiful cat I named Myrtle Rose. Shes only eighteen months old and I had her from 8 weeks old. Shes a delight and a good mate to me and I quite simply adore her.
I try to make sure she has the best of everything, I think she deserves it and my word does she love her daily treats!
I tend to stick to well known brands when it comes to treats for Myrtle really and Purina Felix is just that!
These come in a mainly dark blue plastic style zipper plastic bag that is dark blue and green in colour in the main, the plastic zip is a press down style so that once you have initially opened them up you can simply press that area down lightly and then the treats will be kept fresh (the inside is silver foil) and they are kept securely in and its easy to simply pull apart too when you want to get to the treats of course.
On the front of the bag there is a picture of Felix the cat and of some of the treats and we are clearly told that they are 'New' Felix Crispies, Flavoured With Meat & Vegetables Treats and that they contains Vitamins, Proteins and Omega Oils and then on the back of the packet other information listed includes feeding advice, ingredients and nutritional advice, the weight is stated which is 45g (and the only size I have seen these available to purchase in by the way) and then there is a little stamp to cut out should you want to collect them and the idea of this is to collect the stamps and redeem them on www.worldoffelix.com for things for your cat such bowls and things like that and this is a long standing promotion and these stamps come on most Purina, Felix items and then finally contact details for Purina (the manufacturer) are given.
What you get is lots and lots of abrasive and dry to the touch tiny treats that are a red and beige in colour in the shape of moon and stars. We are told on the back of the packet that its ok to give an adult cat up to 80 pieces a day, my Myrty loves these so much that she'd eat double that amount in one sitting if she could so I do try to ration them out.
The treats are a mix of cereal, meat and animal derivatives and they have some vegetable extracts within them too. They are small and dainty for my girl to hold and nibble on, contain no fragrance to me and they sound crunchy, even if I put a few out and she doesn't eat them all in one go they appear to stay fresh and crunchy which I appreciate greatly. They do make her a little thirsty so I do ensure there is plenty of water about too.
All in all we love these. I buy them often when they are on offer and there are a few flavours to choose from and I usually pay about a pound a packet however if I don't see them on offer I pay more like £1.29 a packet which I still don't begrudge one bit. My lovely Myrtys coat is bright and shiny, she hasn't gained weiht over the time she has been eating them and her nashers look clean and believe me are very sharp too!
A great buy for us and these are widely available in all good supermarkets and pet stores.
We've got 2 cats who we treat as part of the family and they are spoilt rotten. I always like to buy them treats as I think we all like a treat now and again and they are no different. My youngest cat Layla can eat anything but my older one Daisy has always had a very delicate tummy and certain cat foods and treats give her terrible wind however I have recently been buying Felix treats for my cats and these seem to suit Daisy. The ones they have just finished were Felix Crispies.
Felix Crispies are sold in a foil pouch which is re-sealable, the front of the pouch shows the cute Felix cat and a few of the treats. The pouch informs the customer that these are Felix Crispies made by Purina and contain vitamins, protein and omega 6. The front of the pouch also gives the flavour of the treats which in this case is Meat and Vegetables.
The back of the pouch gives a statement about the treats, a feeding guide and the ingredients. There is also a token on there for those collecting them for Felix "gifts", more can be found about this at www.worldoffelix.com. The feeding guide advises that no more than 80 treats are given a day for an adult cat, personally I think this is a lot and my girls definitely don't get this amount.
The treats are little stars and moon shapes which are brown and green in colour. They don't smell particularly nice but then I'm not a cat, to my girls they must smell delicious. They look like regular cat crunchies only smaller.
Price and Availability
Felix Crispies are sold in supermarkets and pet stores, Crispies are available in 3 different flavours, Salmon and Trout, Beef and Chicken and Meat and Vegetables. The Price for a 45g pouch varies depending where you buy them but they all range from £1.00 to £1.19.
Daisy and Layla's Opinion
Well if they could write or talk they would give these 5 stars without hesitation, they love them. I can guarantee as soon as I pick the pouch up they are at my feet purring. The Crispies are treats so I do try and restrict them and they certainly don't get 80 a day although they would easily the whole pouch if I let them.
I haven't noticed any difference in my girls since I started giving them these, they haven't put any weight on and the condition of their fur hasn't changed and best of all they dint give Daisy wind!
If you have a cat and give them treats I would recommend Felix Crispies my girls definitely do.
