“ Brand: Tesco / Type: Cat Food „
When it comes to my lovely one year old furry baby (my cat lol) I do like to buy her as many different flavours and types of food for her as I can...I mean I wouldn't want to eat the same thing every meal and so I don't expect her to either!
For the first year of her life Myrtle was incredibly fussy...I felt that I couldn't do right for doing wrong! I'd find something she liked cos she barely ate and stock up on it then for her to turn her nose up at it and I could stand my ground as much as I wanted but it always went stinky and stale in our standoffs and I never won the foody battle with her cos she seemed quite happy to not eat!
Its fair to say I wasted so much money and my bin must have been well and truly fed up with the waste! However she grew out of it and now my little Myrtle will pretty much eat anything though she isn't a greedy can and still doesn't eat very much at all....much less in fact than what is recommended for an adult cat but I did get her checked over by a vet and shes in fine health and its just the way she is and she isn't under or overweight, is alert and has a lovely shiny coat....she really is very spoilt indeed by me cos I simply adore her!
These little tins appealed to me though for a few of reasons. The labeling looks rather posh, it had a little ring pull to the top of it, they are only little portions of food (just 85g) and I bought several different flavours for 39p a tin in my local B & M store which I thought was really cheap and much less than I usually pay for anything for my mog!
The can is nice enough and with a photograph of a contented looking cat on the front of it and the food itself is shown and we are clearly told what it is and who it is by and then on the back the nutritional details are given, the size is stated and contact details for the manufacturer are clearly given. Its a nice dainty tin this one and like I say to me quite posh looking which is why i found myself looking at it in the first place!
What You Get:
I find that this small tin serves Myrtle one meal per time and I usually put half out then when shes still stood at the bowl licking the last of the gravy out I gauge whether she wants more and usually she does so I let her finish the tin off as it isn't a large portion of food by any means.
The meal smells fishy to my nasal passages, it is in small lumps and has lots of thick, human looking brown gravy all over it (minus lumps lol). To me it stinks and it don't look so good but I have to say I think Myrtle really does enjoy this one and at least I can't see bits of fish skin in it or anything else hideous that I loathe!
Whilst I don't know what vegetables are actually in this because they are not given to us on the labeling and I can't see them in the food they are in there apparently and along with the actual fish content (4% as well as 4% vegetables) there are meat and fish derivatives in there along with added Vitamins and Minerals. She really does like this, I don't have to faff about separating the food cos its really quite wet anyway and quite a wet food and although it to me looks rich doesn't upset her tummy.
You are meant to feed an adult cat 4 cans of this day, though you can mix and match and so on of course and this is one I shall certainly buy my girl in the future!
Available from all Pet shops and supermarkets and so on and at the moment Asda have this on offer at 8 cans for £3.00!
Hello, my name is Mew and my mommy is SusanLesley. I sometimes write reviews about the nice things I get to eat and today I thought I would tell you about my new favourite! I hope you don't mind reading a review from a pussy cat!
The food is called Gourmet Gold Chunks (of meat) in Gravy with Trout and Vegetables. Mommy tells me that a can containing 85g costs 39p in Tesco's and that there is an offer on right up until Christmas where she can buy six cans for £2. I think I might be getting more of this then - yummy!
I know when I am going to get this food to eat as mommy opens the drawer of my cupboard and fetches out the little can. I always rub against her legs and purr a lot when I see the can to show her how much I am looking forward to my food. I usually eat dry food, which is very nice, but this is my treat food and I really enjoy it.
The can has a ring pull thingy on the top which makes it quick and easy to open. Mommy puts her finger through the ring and just pulls the top off the can. Then I can smell the food inside and it smells delicious to me so I purr more loudly and sometimes meow too just to say thank you.
I have half of a can at a time - if mommy gave it all to me I would eat it all too quickly and then I might be sick so I have two little meals instead and that's better.
The food looks really appetising as it is in nice little chunks. I have had food in the past that is really sloppy and I don't like that so mommy doesn't buy any more of it. In this one there are chunks of meat with bits of fish and vegetables all in lovely gravy. I know it sounds strange to you humans - having meat and fish together - but I love the taste and always eat it all and lick the bowl! Then I go and sit by mommy and lick my lips to show her how much I have enjoyed my food.
On the side of the tin it says that the ingredients of my food are 'meat and animal derivatives, cereals, fish and fish derivatives (trout 4%), vegetables (4%), various sugars and minerals'. Actually it doesn't sound very nice when you read that but I still think it is delicious!
If this was the only sort of food that I was eating I would have to have four whole cans per day but maybe that would be a bit too rich for me - I am healthier having mainly dry food with this as a treat every few days.
When mommy has emptied the can into my feeding bowl she washes it out and puts it into the big white bag ready for the recycling man to come and fetch it. She seems to be pleased when she can do that so that must be a good thing.
So there you are I love this food and, if you have a pussy cat living with you, I am sure that he would love it if you bought some for his tea.
Thank you for reading my review and I will try and write another one soon.
